STAMFORD, Conn. – July 20, 2021 – NBCUniversal’s comprehensive coverage of the Tokyo Olympics begins tonight, Tuesday July 20, with live coverage of softball, which returns to the Olympics for the first time since the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Host nation Japan opens the competition against Australia at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN (live coverage from Tokyo begins at 7:55 p.m. ET). The second half of tonight’s softball doubleheader features USA Softball beginning its quest for a fourth Olympic gold medal vs. Italy at 11 p.m. ET from Fukushima Azuma Baseball Stadium on NBCSN.
The U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team kicks off its Olympic competition against Sweden tomorrow, Wednesday July 21, live at 4:30 a.m. ET on USA. Pre-game coverage begins at 4 a.m. ET.

TUESDAY, JULY 20
Host nation Japan, which won the softball gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Games, begins the Tokyo Olympic softball tournament against Australia live at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN. The Japanese team is led by pitcher Ueno Yukiko and outfielder Yamada Eri.
USA Softball begins its quest for a fourth Olympic gold medal when it plays Italy in an opening round matchup live at 11 p.m. ET on NBCSN. Pitcher Cat Osterman, who is a two-time softball Olympic medalist, returns to the Games for a third time alongside 2008 Beijing Games silver medalist Monica Abbott.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 21
The U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team -- which has won Olympic gold four times (1996, 2004, 2008 and 2012) -- kicks off its campaign against Sweden live at 4:30 a.m. ET on USA (with encore coverage at 8:30 a.m. ET and 6 p.m. ET on NBCSN). The USWNT features 11 players from the 2016 Olympic team, including Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, Carli Lloyd, Tobin Heath, and more.
Also, among Wednesday’s highlights is live coverage of Team USA softball vs. Canada in their second consecutive day of competition at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN.
THURSDAY, JULY 22
In a rematch of the men’s soccer gold medal game from the 2016 Rio Games, Brazil face Germany live at 7:30 a.m. ET on USA. Brazil, the defending Olympic champions, earned the country’s first-ever Olympic gold medal in soccer after Neymar converted the winning penalty kick in a shootout.
