Marv Albert
Marv Albert serves as a men’s basketball play-by-play announcer for the 2016 Olympic Games. Rio marks Albert’s fifth NBC Olympics assignment and third calling men’s basketball, as he was courtside to chronicle the gold medal-winning U.S. “Dream Team” in Barcelona in 1992. Albert also called Olympic boxing for NBC in 1988, 1996, and 2000. Albert’s son, Kenny Albert, also serves as a play-by-play announcer during the Olympic Games in Rio.
Albert returned to NBC Sports Group in March of 2015 as the blow-by-blow announcer for Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on NBC. One of the most prominent play-by-play voices in NBA history, Albert has been the lead NBA announcer for Turner Sports since 1999. He previously worked at NBC Sports for more than 20 years, serving as the primary play-by-play announcer for the NBA on NBC, and also called the action on properties including the NFL, NHL, MLB, college basketball, boxing, and horse racing.
A multiple Emmy Award winner, Albert attended the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University from 1960 to 1963, and graduated from New York University in 1965.
