Lewis Johnson

Track & Field Reporter

Lewis Johnson serves as the track & field reporter for NBC Olympics’ coverage of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. Prior to his Paralympic Games assignment, Johnson most recently served as a track and field reporter for the 2016 Olympic Games.

Rio marked Johnson’s third Paralympics and ninth Olympic assignment with NBC Sports Group. Johnson served as a marathon reporter during the 2012 London Olympics, as a track and field reporter during the 2008 Beijing Olympics and an alpine skiing reporter at the 2006 Torino Olympics.

The former track star joined NBC Sports Group in 1999 and currently reports on various track and field events for NBC and ESPN, as well as college football reporting for NBCSN. Johnson has also served as a sideline reporter during NBC’s coverage of Notre Dame Football, and has filed stories for Football Night in America.  Previously, he was a reporter for  the NBA on NBC, Arena Football League broadcasts, and has anchored the NBC Sports Update Desk.

After an All-American track career at the University of Cincinnati, Johnson competed professionally in Europe for seven years where he was ranked in the Top 10 in the U.S. at 800m and competed in the U.S. Olympic Trials in 1988 and 1992.
