Soccer Analyst

Kate Markgraf is a women’s soccer analyst for NBC Sports Group at the Games of the XXXI Olympiad. Rio marks Markgraf’s second Olympic assignment, having served in the same role at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Markgraf is currently an analyst for NBC Sports Group’s Premier League and U.S. Women’s National Team coverage. Markgraf has also contributed to FOX, ESPN and Big Ten Network’s soccer coverage.

Markgraf served as a defender on the U.S. National Team from 1998-2010, earning two Olympic gold medals and a silver medal. A three-time All-American at the University of Notre Dame, Markgraf is one of only three athletes with Notre Dame connections to earn two gold medals, and one of only three Fighting Irish athletes to earn three Olympic medals.

In addition to her Olympic career, Markgraf won the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup and finished third in both 2003 and 2007. She played professionally in the Women’s United Soccer Association with the Boston Breakers from 2001 to 2003, and in Women’s Professional Soccer with the Chicago Red Stars from 2009- 2010.

Markgraf currently lives in Wisconsin with her husband and three children.
