Tennis Analyst

Jon Wertheim returns to NBC Sports Group’s as a tennis analyst on Bravo during the 2016 Rio Olympics. Wertheim made his Olympic debut at the 2012 Olympic Summer Games in London.

A senior writer for Sports Illustrated, Wertheim’s work has been cited in The Best American Sports Writing anthology four times as well as The Best American Crime Writing. He is the author of several books, his most recent one entitled This is Your Brain on Sports co-written with Tufts University professor, Sam Sommers. This book helps sports fans search for a deeper understanding of the games they watch and the people who play them.

Wertheim joined Sports Illustrated in 1996 and quickly became one of the magazine’s most prominent voices on tennis, the NBA, sports business and law, and social issues. He has written some of the magazine’s most memorable pieces of work. As one, of the chief investigative writers and reporters for Sports Illustrated, Wertheim has explored an array of subject matters, from high school hazing to performance-enhancing drugs and steroids in sports. His weekly “Tennis Mailbag” on SI.com is considered a must-read among tennis aficionados. He also speaks about sports business issues on college campuses and for corporate audiences.

Wertheim is a 1993 graduate of Yale University who later received a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1997. He resides in New York City with his wife Ellie.
