Gary Pate

Wheelchair Rugby Analyst

Gary Pate serves as a wheelchair rugby analyst for NBC Olympics’ coverage of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

Pate has been on staff with USA Wheelchair Rugby since 2009 and attended the 2012 Paralympic games in London in that capacity.  He has worked international competitions in Great Britain, Denmark, Canada, Australia, and Argentina. In 2012, he was appointed to the International Wheelchair Rugby Federation Anti-Doping Commission, and served as President of the United States Quad Rugby Association from 2010-2014

Pate is a graduate of the University of Alabama-Birmingham and Cumberland School of Law at Samford University. He is a retired domestic relations judge and serves as an adjunct professor at Cumberland.

An avid rock climber, voracious reader, enthusiastic cook, and lover of adaptive sports, Pete is a native of Birmingham, Alabama, where he lives with his wife Crystal and 2 year old twins.
