No. 1 Ranked Light Heavyweight Contender Buatsi faces No. 2 Azeez in 12-Round Bout Live from OVO Arena Wembley in London
Co-Main Event Headlined by Adam Azim’s First Defense of European Super Lightweight Title against Enock Poulsen Live on Peacock
STAMFORD, Conn. – Feb. 1, 2024 – Peacock exclusively streams live coverage of this Saturday’s BOXXER card beginning at 2 p.m. ET as top light heavyweight contenders No.1-ranked Joshua Buatsi and No. 2-ranked Dan Azeez put a decade-long friendship aside in a 12-round bout from OVO Arena Wembley in London.
Saturday’s fight puts Azeez’s British and Commonwealth Titles up for grabs and serves as a final eliminator for the WBA World Light Heavyweight Championship currently held by Dmitry Bivol. The bout was originally scheduled to take place on Oct. 21, 2023, before Azeez suffered a back injury in his final training session, forcing a postponement of the event to this weekend.
Azeez (19-0, 13 KOs) last fought on July 5, 2023, outpointing Khalid Graidia in an eight-round victory. Buatsi (17-0, 13 KOs) earned a win via unanimous decision in his last fight vs. Paewl Stepien on May 6, 2023.
Saturday’s card features four bouts leading into Buatsi-Azeez, including Adam Azim (10-0, 7 KOs) making the first defense of his EBU European Super Lightweight Title against undefeated former champion Enock Poulsen (14-0, 5 KOs) in a 12-round bout.
Tokyo Olympic silver medalist Ben Whittaker (5-0, 4 KOs), coming off a highlight reel knockout of Stiven Leonetti Dredhaj in December, takes on Swiss-based French fighter Khalid Graidia (10-13-5, 2 KOs) over eight rounds.
Caroline Dubois (8-0, 5 KOs) faces American contender Miranda Reyes (7-1-1, 3 KOs) in a defense of her IBO World Lightweight Title in a 10-round bout.
Opening the Peacock livestream at 2 p.m. ET on Saturday, heavyweight hopeful Jeamie ‘TKV’ Tshikeva (5-1, 3 KOs) looks to get back to winning ways after suffering his first career defeat this past September when he squares off against British-based Ukrainian Kostiantyn Dovbyshchenko (10-14, 7 KOs) in a six-round bout.
