Paris Olympic Hopefuls Competing for World Medals on a Competitive International Stage

U.S. Artistic Swimming Team and U.S. Diving Team Can Secure Spots for Paris Olympics

STAMFORD, Conn. – Feb. 1, 2024 – Swimming, diving, artistic swimming, and water polo athletes take the stage in NBC Sports’ extensive live coverage of the 2024 World Aquatics Championships from Doha, Qatar, beginning tomorrow, Feb. 2, at 7:30 a.m. ET on Peacock. All finals in all disciplines will be presented live on Peacock.

Peacock, from Feb. 2 through Sunday, Feb. 18, will present over 90 hours of daily live coverage as many of the future aquatic athletes of the Paris Olympics compete against competitive international fields. Additional coverage, including preliminaries in Artistic Swimming, Diving, and Water Polo, can be accessed through World Aquatics here.

Team USA will be represented by a strong contingent of swimmers, including Tokyo Olympian and nine-time world medalist Kate Douglass, Tokyo Olympic 4x100m medley gold medalist Hunter Armstrong, Tokyo Olympic 4x100m medley silver medalist Claire Curzan, three-time world champion Nic Fink, and four-time world medalist Katie Grimes.

The U.S. men’s water polo team and women’s water polo team finished seventh and fifth, respectively, at last year’s World Championships. The women’s team are three-time reigning Olympic champions, while the men last medaled at the 2008 Beijing Games (silver).

This meet is the U.S. artistic swimming team’s last chance to qualify for the team event at the Paris Olympics. In order to do so, the U.S. will need to finish as one of the five highest-ranking teams (not already qualified) after aggregating free team, technical team, and acrobatic team scores. They have already qualified for the Olympic duet event. Additionally, the U.S. diving team can secure more quota spots for several events in Paris, including men’s and women’s 10m platform.
