ACTRESS, PRODUCER, AND AUTHOR LILY COLLINS STARS IN LATEST INSTALLMENT OF NBCUNIVERSAL’S “PITCH” CAMPAIGN FOR ITS COVERAGE OF OLYMPIC GAMES PARIS 2024

Collins Reprises Emily in Paris Character Emily Cooper for Outlandish Promotional Spot that Co-Stars Team USA Olympian Noah Lyles

Promo Aired During NBC Sports’ Coverage of Super Wild Card Weekend

STAMFORD, Conn. – January 13, 2024 – Actress, producer, and author Lily Collins reprises her iconic Emily in Paris character Emily Cooper from the hit Netflix series in the third promotional spot of NBCUniversal’s “pitch” campaign to promote its coverage of the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad, which begin July 26 in Paris, France. The promo aired earlier today during NBC Sports’ coverage of Super Wild Card Weekend featuring the Houston Texans hosting the Cleveland Browns.

The new spot opens with the fastest man in the world, Noah Lyles, getting set to compete in Paris while wearing an extravagant gold, armored outfit. Viewers are then transitioned to a board room where Collins, as Emily, is pitching a group of marketing executives that Emily in Paris fictional designer Pierre Caudault should create Lyle’s race-day attire. As Lyles crosses the finish line, winning his race in the outrageous outfit, Emily sprays the dismayed executives with Champère Champagne, another fictional brand from the show. Emily in Paris costume designer Marylin Fitoussi created Lyles’ custom-made outfit for the spot.

“As we kick off an Olympic year, we are delighted that Lily Collins, as Emily Cooper, will bring her fantastical marketing ideas to our Olympic campaign,” said Jenny Storms, CMO, Sports and Entertainment, NBCUniversal. “Her stylish pitch fits perfectly with our strategy and will generate excitement for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris, one of the fashion capitals of the world.”

Team USA sprinter Noah Lyles won an Olympic bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 and three gold medals at last summer’s World Athletics Championships, including the men’s 100m, earning him the title as world’s fastest man. He’s expected to compete for multiple gold medals in Paris this summer. NBC Sports’ lead track & field voice Leigh Diffey calls the fictional race.

The promo will run across NBCU’s linear, social, and digital platforms throughout the winter. The first spot in the campaign featured Peyton Manning pitching an idea in which he flies above Paris on a giant baguette blimp, while the second spot saw Megan Thee Stallion dancing with dressage horses at the Palace of Versailles while pitching “Thee Paris Olympics.”

In Paris this summer, the world’s greatest athletes will compete against the backdrop of one of the most beautiful cities in the world where the modern Olympic Games were conceived 130 years ago. This will be the third time Paris has hosted the Olympics (1900 and 1924), tying London for the most as a Summer Games host. Los Angeles (1932, 1984) will tie those two cities when it hosts the first Summer Games in the U.S. in 32 years in 2028.

The Paris organizers are reimagining the Games to make them more accessible to the public and to showcase their city to the world. In a first, competitions will be held amidst iconic Parisian landmarks – beach volleyball at the Eiffel Tower, equestrian at the Palace of Versailles, and urban sports at Place de la Concorde. The surfing competition will take place nearly 10,000 miles from Paris in Tahiti, a part of French Polynesia.

In May, NBCUniversal announced that the NBC broadcast network and streaming service Peacock will be the company’s primary platforms for its coverage of the Olympic Games Paris 2024, scheduled for July 26-Aug. 11, 2024. Click here for more programming information and here for information about the Paralympics, which will take place Aug. 28-Sept. 8.

NBCUniversal owns the U.S. media rights to the Olympic Games through 2032, which are scheduled for Paris (2024), Milan Cortina (2026), Los Angeles (2028) and Brisbane (2032). The host city for the 2030 Olympic Winter Games has not yet been chosen.
