DAK PRESCOTT SPEAKS WITH PETER KING AFTER COWBOYS’ SNF WIN OVER EAGLES IN THIS WEEK’S “FMIA” COLUMN
“I try to define the difference in Dak Prescott this season, and I keep coming back to one word: confidence.” – King
“Mahomes, I would bet, could play 20 years in KC, and never have another team do what Buffalo has done: beat Mahomes three years in a row at home.” – King on the Chiefs-Bills rivalry
“For a day, anyway, the 53rd man on the roster catapulted Baltimore to the top seed in the AFC.” – King on Ravens WR Tylan Wallace’s game-winning punt return-TD in OT
STAMFORD, Conn. – Dec. 11, 2023 – Peter King speaks with Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott after Dallas’ statement win over Philadelphia in this week’s edition of Football Morning in America, available now exclusively on NBCSports.com. King also discusses Patrick Mahomes’ reaction following Kansas City’s loss to Buffalo, Tylan Wallace’s walk-off punt return-touchdown for the Ravens, and more.

The following are highlights from this week’s edition of Football Morning in America:
Prescott to Peter King on possibly winning this season’s NFL MVP award: “Every now and then, that thought crosses your mind. It’d be cool. An award like that would be great for Cowboys fans and the people that doubted me more than anything. But my main goal has always been the Super Bowl.”
Prescott on the Cowboys’ response to recent struggles against the Eagles: “What bothered me more than anything was the lack of fight that we showed as a team, honestly. Me and Mike (McCarthy) talked about it. Pissed us off more than anything. After that game, I said if we lose another game, I promise you it won’t look like this. I promise you we won’t allow a team to bully us or knock us around.”
King: “I try to define the difference in Dak Prescott this season, and I keep coming back to one word: confidence. Sometimes, he sets up to throw and lets one fly and it looks like a bad decision … and it rarely is.”
Prescott on his confidence: “Where does the confidence come from? I credit the footwork of Mike McCarthy, the way that he’s been consistent in the footwork. I hit that back foot, and I’ve got the confidence to let it go because of the work we’ve put in in QB school going back to the offseason.”
King on Prescott’s performance against the Eagles: “Prescott was John Stockton Sunday night, a distributor with no fear.”
King on Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes’ response to the offsides call against Kansas City that nullified what would have been the game-winning touchdown: “I’ve never seen Patrick Mahomes blow his top the way he did late in the game, and after it.”
King on Chiefs’ regular season struggles vs. Buffalo: “Win of the year for Buffalo. Mahomes, I would bet, could play 20 years in KC, and never have another team do what Buffalo has done: beat Mahomes three years in a row at home.”
King on Browns QB Joe Flacco: “Joe Flacco, starter down the stretch for a playoff contender, 22 days after sitting on the couch in south Jersey, watching the games on TV. He’s a month shy of 39, and he’s got five touchdown throws in his two starts.”
King on 49ers’ WR Deebo Samuel: “Deebo is turning into a one-named athlete. Like, there isn’t another Deebo in name, and there certainly isn’t another in performance.”
King on the Ravens WR Tylan Wallace’s walk-off punt-return TD against the Rams: “For a day, anyway, the 53rd man on the roster catapulted Baltimore to the top seed in the AFC.”
King on Steelers’ QB situation: “Mitchell Trubisky is truly a nice, pleasant person. But imagine your playoff hopes resting on his shoulders. Yikes.”
KING’S WEEK 14 AWARDS
Offensive Players of the Week: Josh Allen, Buffalo, Courtland Sutton, Denver, Justin Fields, Chicago, & Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay
King on Allen’s success: “The command Allen has on the game, even when it’s not perfect, gives Buffalo a chance to win every Sunday.”
King on Sutton’s performance this season: “Sutton has grown up before our eyes this year, becoming one of the premier receivers in football.”
Defensive Players of the Week: Ivan Pace Jr., Minnesota, Martin Emerson Jr., Cleveland, & Bryce Huff, New York Jets
King on Pace Jr.’s game-clinching interception: “Not bad for a Sam Mills-sized player who’s had trouble all his life getting people to overlook his size.”
King on Huff and the Jets: “On a rain-soaked afternoon in New Jersey, the underrated Huff and his more noted defensive mates made life miserable for Houston’s rookie phenom, C.J. Stroud, in the 30-6 Jets win.”
Coach of the Week: Zac Taylor, Cincinnati
King on Taylor’s coaching since QB Joe Burrow has been out: “What a job Taylor did in prepping Jake Browning to play Monday-Sunday games against contenders, and to win, and to score 68 points with Joe Burrow watching from the sideline.”
Special Teams Players of the Week: Tylan Wallace, Baltimore, Brandon Aubrey, Dallas, Braden Mann, Philadelphia, & Nephi Sewell, New Orleans
King on Dallas kicker Aubrey: “Aubrey never played college football. He was a soccer player at Notre Dame. Whatever he did before joining Dallas this year, ought to be copied league wide.”
Goats of the Week: Kadarius Toney, Kansa City, & Mitchell Trubisky, Pittsburgh
King on Toney: “I don’t know how Andy Reid can play Toney anymore. So many mistakes and dropped passes, the biggest of which came inside the two-minute warning on what could have been the winning play in a huge game Sunday against Buffalo.”
