“He might be the greatest rookie quarterback I’ve ever seen.” – Chris Simms on Texans QB C.J. Stroud

“Unusual for Bill Belichick. He’s usually one to stay the course. ‘We’re on to Cincinnati.’ He never makes rash decisions like this late in the game.” – Simms on Belichick pulling QB Mac Jones for QB Bailey Zappe

Peacock Sunday Night Football Final Streams EXCLUSIVELY on Peacock Following Jets-Raiders and Every Sunday Night Football Game During 2023 Season

STAMFORD, Conn. – Nov. 12, 2023 – NBC Sports’ presentation of Week 10 of the 2023 NFL season began tonight from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nev., with Football Night in America leading into coverage of Jets-Raiders on Sunday Night Football on NBC, Peacock, and Universo.

Maria Taylor hosted FNIA from NBC Sports’ Studio 1 in Stamford, Conn. She was joined by former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett, three-time Super Bowl Champion Devin McCourty, former NFL quarterback Chris Simms, NFL Insider Mike Florio and fantasy sports industry pioneer Matthew Berry. Hall of Fame head coach Tony Dungy and two-time Super Bowl winner Rodney Harrison joined co-host Jac Collinsworth and at the site of the game.

Mike Tirico (play-by-play), Cris Collinsworth (analyst), Melissa Stark (sideline reporter) and Terry McAulay (rules analyst) are calling tonight’s game.

Pre-game coverage included Rodney Harrison’s walk-and-talk interview with Raiders’ interim head coach Antonio Pierce.

Following are highlights from tonight’s edition of Football Night in America on NBC and Peacock:

ON JETS

Dungy on positivity in the Jets’ locker room: “Their fans think the sky is falling, their quarterback isn’t playing well, the offensive line is hurt … (this team) feels confident, they feel they’ve got the raw material of a playoff team with a great defense, a good running team and a good attitude.”

Harrison on Jets’ playoff prospects: “They’ve got a legitimate chance.”

Dungy on RB Breece Hall: “He’s dynamic, he’s tough, and he can hit the big plays. They’ve got to feed the ball to him. He’s got to get 20 touches tonight because not only can they control the line of scrimmage, but he can hit the home run for them. I expect to see a big night tonight for Breece Hall.”

Dungy on the Jets’ defense: “They are well-coached and sound, they don’t make mistakes, and it all starts up front. They’ve got Quinnen Williams who plays just like Warren Sapp used to play for me.”

ON RAIDERS

Antonio Pierce to Harrison on becoming interim head coach: “It is pretty cool. This whole deal is quite an experience. It’s humbling – you know how it is being a former player, working your way up the ranks of the coaching ladder, we all want that opportunity. Obviously, I have it here with a team I grew up cheering for.”

Pierce on the past two weeks as interim head coach: “You get pulled in every direction, like this (interview) right now…I’ve had opportunities in different professions in my life, different careers, being a leader, being the lead man and making tough decisions. Same thing here – at the end of the day it’s just football. Whatever happens, they’re going to snap the ball, run or pass and let the Jimmy’s and Joe’s take over.”

Dungy on DE Maxx Crosby: “Maxx Crosby epitomizes what this Raiders team is all about. He’s talented, but the effort, the energy, the hustle…he’s got moves, but it’s his intensity.”

McCourty on rookie QB Aidan O’Connell: “It’s about making the easy throw, allowing him to read things. With (former head coach) Josh McDaniels they had more tight formations. Let O’Connell see what’s happening. That’s the key…get it to the playmakers.”

ON VIKINGS

Simms on QB Joshua Dobbs: “The magical story continues. This guy was on another team three weeks ago. Now he’s carving up defenses with his arm and his legs.”

McCourty on Dobbs: “He looks like his been playing there for five years…playmaker. Running with the ball, throwing the ball, he’s doing everything, but his leadership is awesome to see. You can see the guys in Minnesota are excited to take the field.”

ON BROWNS

Garrett on comeback win against the Ravens: “I was shocked. For Cleveland to go in there and beat this Ravens team – I get that it’s a division game – but Baltimore has been dominant the last month of this season. They beat some really good teams and it looked like that early on in the ball game, but it was Cleveland’s resilience to come back.”

Simms: “If their offense can get going, watch out for Cleveland. Jerome Ford is a beast and it’s one of the better offensive lines in all of football behind Bill Callahan who’s one of the best o-line coaches…We saw some Deshaun Watson magic…starting to round into the Deshaun Watson that we used to know. Cleveland – that defense is real, if that offense gets real, watch out for the Cleveland Browns.”

ON RAVENS

McCourty on Ravens’ loss to the Browns: “I talked to Kyle Van Noy after the game. He said that they let themselves down by not keeping (Deshaun Watson) in the pocket. That was a focus for them coming into the game, not allowing him to be dangerous and escaping to run or throw the ball.”

ON PATRIOTS

Simms on decision to bench QB Mac Jones for QB Bailey Zappe on final drive vs. Colts: “Unusual for Bill Belichick. He’s usually one to stay the course. ‘We’re on to Cincinnati.’ He never makes rash decisions like this late in the game…I found it weird.”

McCourty: “Did (Bailey) Zappe get any reps in the two-minute drill? To pull Mac (Jones) out with 1:52 left…a really hard situation to put Zappe in.”

ON TEXANS

McCourty on the Texans: “A lot of people thought they weren’t going to be that good. They’re fighting and they might be in the playoffs. It’s C.J. Stroud throwing to the likes of Dalton Schultz and Noah Brown, two guys the Cowboys didn’t even want…C.J. Stroud says, ‘Come on home guys, we’re going to be a good football team and you guys are going to be big for me.’”

Simms on QB C.J. Stroud: “I feel like I talk about him every week. I’m so impressed with him. He might be the greatest rookie quarterback I’ve ever seen.”

Garrett on Stroud: “I’m amazed by this guy…what impressed me most is that he throws the interception late, and some guys go away, but he never goes away.”

ON 49ERS

Simms: “They’re healthy and rested. You need to buy some stock in the San Francisco 49ers…they dominated Jacksonville today…they came out mad as hell.”

Garrett on 49ers trading for DL Chase Young and bolstering their pass rush: “When you’re building a team, you have to address the weakness, but sometimes you have to continue to bolster the strengths. It’s been a strength of this defense for a long time, they’ve doubled- and tripled-down.”

ON CARDINALS

Simms on QB Kyler Murray making his first start of the season: “He looked beyond comfortable. It just speaks to how freaky of an athlete he is at quarterback. He ran 80 yards to get a 15-yard-gain in a clutch moment. He’s supposed to be coming off a knee injury.”
