STAMFORD, Conn.Nov. 2, 2023Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals (4-3) host Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills (5-3) in a rematch of last season’s AFC Divisional Playoff game in the Week 9 edition of NBC’s Sunday Night Football. Coverage begins at 7 p.m. ET with Football Night in America, followed by kickoff at 8:20 p.m. ET from Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio, on NBC, Peacock, and Universo.

The Bengals beat the San Francisco 49ers, 31-17, for their third consecutive victory last week. Burrow threw for 283 yards and three touchdowns; and now has 16 career games with three or more touchdown passes, tied with Peyton Manning and Dak Prescott for the fifth-most such games by a quarterback in his first four NFL seasons. All-Pro wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, ranked in the top 10 in the league for receiving yards (656) and receptions (60), caught 10 passes for 100 yards and a score in the win.

The Bills defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 24-18, last Thursday. Allen threw for 324 yards and two touchdowns while adding 41 yards rushing and a score on the ground. The 2018 first round pick now has 43 career rushing touchdowns, tied with Pro Football Hall of Famer Steve Young for second on the NFL’s all-time list among quarterbacks and trailing only 2015 NFL MVP Cam Newton (75).

Allen’s top target, WR Stefon Diggs, needs only 22 receptions to pass DeAndre Hopkins (789) for the most catches in league history before age 30. A two-time All-Pro, Diggs turns 30 on November 29 and leads the NFL in receptions (64).

The Bills lead the all-time series with the Bengals by a slim 17-16 margin. Sunday will also be a rematch of last season’s AFC Divisional Playoff game, which Cincinnati won, 27-10, to advance to its second consecutive AFC Championship Game. This will only be the second career matchup between Allen and Burrow.

FLEXIBLE SCHEDULING:

Flexible scheduling will be used in Weeks 11-18. Additionally, in Weeks 5-10, flexible scheduling may be used in no more than two weeks. In Weeks 5-17, the schedule lists the games tentatively set for Sunday Night Football on NBC. Only Sunday afternoon games are eligible to be moved to Sunday night, in which case the tentatively scheduled Sunday night game would be moved to an afternoon start time.

For Week 18, two Saturday games and the Sunday night game will be announced no later than six days prior to January 8. The schedule does not list Saturday games or a Sunday night game in Week 18, but games with playoff implications will be moved to those time slots. Flexible scheduling ensures quality matchups in all Sunday time slots in those weeks and gives “surprise” teams a chance to play their way into primetime.
