STAMFORD, Conn. – July 25, 2023 – Seven-time Olympic gold medalist Katie Ledecky is at the forefront of NBC Sports’ continuing live coverage of the 2023 World Aquatics Championships from Fukuoka, Japan. Live coverage continues tonight, Tuesday, July 25, at 9:30 p.m. ET on Peacock. Ledecky is one win away from breaking a tie with 23-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps for most career individual World Championship titles.

Ledecky is the favorite to win the world title in the 800m freestyle on Saturday, July 29, at 7 a.m. ET live on Peacock. The world record holder in this event, she has won the 800m freestyle at five consecutive World Championships and three consecutive Olympics, dating back to the 2012 London Summer Games.

Ledecky tied Phelps’ record on Tuesday, winning the 1500m freestyle in a time of 15:26.27. This is her fifth career World Championship title in the event, of which she holds the world record in, as well. She also earned the silver medal in the 400m freestyle last weekend, with Australia’s Ariarne Titmus taking home the world title and setting a new world record in the event in 3:55.38. Erika Fairweather (New Zealand) earned the bronze medal while the previous world record holder, Summer McIntosh (Canada), finished in fourth place.

Peacock streams daily live coverage of the World Aquatics Championships, which began on July 14 and concludes this Sunday, July 30. NBC will air encore coverage of the event on Sunday, July 30, at 5 p.m. ET and Saturday, Aug. 5, at 1:30 p.m. ET.
