SYDNEY MCLAUGHLIN-LEVRONE, NOAH LYLES, SHA’CARRI RICHARDSON AND GABBY THOMAS HEADLINE MONACO AND LONDON DIAMOND LEAGUE MEETS LIVE THIS WEEKEND ON PEACOCK

McLaughlin-Levrone, Richardson, and Thomas Each Coming Off Victories at the 2023 USATF Outdoor Championships

Karsten Warholm, Shericka Jackson, Mondo Duplantis, Faith Kipyegon, and Other Olympic Champions Expected to Compete This Week

STAMFORD, Conn. – July 19, 2023 Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Noah Lyles, Sha’Carri Richardson, Gabby Thomas and more headline NBC Sports’ coverage of Diamond League meets from Monaco and London this weekend, with all coverage streaming live on Peacock.

MONACO

Reigning Olympic and world 400m hurdles champion McLaughlin-Levrone and two-time Tokyo Olympic medalist sprinter Thomas headline live coverage of the Diamond League in Monaco this Friday, July 21, at 2 p.m. ET on Peacock from the famed Stade Louis-II.

Coming off a national title in the 400m at the USATF Outdoor Championships earlier this month, McLaughlin-Levrone is expected to run the same event this Friday in Monaco. Her world-leading time of 48.74 at the national championships placed her second on the U.S. all-time list, trailing only the national record of 48.70, set by NBC Sports analyst Sanya Richards-Ross in 2006. Thomas, who won the U.S. 200m championship in a world-leading time of 21.60 earlier this month, is set to race her signature distance in Monaco, where she will face reigning 200m world champion Shericka Jackson (Jamaica).

The most anticipated race of the meet may be the men’s 400m hurdles in what is set to be a rematch of the historic Tokyo Olympic final between Karsten Warholm (Norway), Rai Benjamin (United States), and Alison dos Santos (Brazil), when gold medalist Warholm and silver medalist Benjamin both broke the previous world record along with bronze medalist dos Santos dipping under the previous Olympic record. This is the first time since that race in 2021 that all three athletes will face each other in the same race.

Multiple Olympians are set to compete in Monaco this weekend, including newly minted 1500m and 5000m world record holder Faith Kipyegon (Kenya), reigning Olympic and world pole vault champion Mondo Duplantis (Sweden), two-time Olympic triple jump champion Christian Taylor, and reigning Olympic and world steeplechase champion Soufiane El Bakkali (Morocco).

NBC Sports’ Paul Swangard will call the event, joined by four-time Olympic champion Sanya Richards-Ross, two-time Olympian Kara Goucher, and 2012 London Olympic decathlon silver medalist Trey Hardee.
