Jakob Ingebrigtsen, Who Broke the Two-Mile World Record Last Week at the Paris Diamond League Meet, Expected to Compete in 1500m

Anna Hall, Karsten Warholm, Cory McGee, and Wayde van Niekerk Also Expected to Compete This Week in Oslo

STAMFORD, Conn. – June 14, 2023 – 2022 world 200m bronze medalist Erriyon Knighton headlines NBC Sports’ live coverage of the Diamond League in Oslo, Norway, tomorrow, Thursday, June 15, at 2 p.m. ET on Peacock from Bislett Stadium. The competition is expected to include 23 Olympic medalists.

Tokyo Olympic 1500m gold medalist Jakob Ingebrigtsen (Norway), who shattered the two-mile world record by more than four seconds at last week’s Paris Diamond League meet in a blistering 7:54.10, is expected to compete in his signature event, the 1500m. The race will serve as a rematch of the Tokyo Olympic 1500m, with all three medalists set to compete: gold medalist Ingebrigtsen, silver medalist Timothy Cheruiyot (Kenya) and bronze medalist Josh Kerr (Great Britain). Rising U.S. star Yared Nuguse and Ingebrigtsen’s older brother, Filip Ingebrigtsen, are also expected to toe the line.

Reigning 200m world champion and 100m silver medalist Shericka Jackson (Jamaica) will face a competitive 100m field that is expected to include two-time 200m world medalist Dina Asher-Smith (Great Britain) and three-time world medalist Marie-Josée Ta Lou (Côte d’Ivoire). In the 400m hurdles, reigning Olympic and world silver medalist Femke Bol (Netherlands) is set to take on 2022 world heptathlon bronze medalist Anna Hall.

U.S. stars expected to compete include Knighton, two-time Olympic 5000m medalist Paul Chelimo, U.S. 10,000m record holder Alicia Monson, 2022 U.S. 10,000m champion Joe Klecker, and Tokyo Olympic 1500m finalist Cory McGee competing in the historic Dream Mile.

On the international side, Rio Olympic 400m gold medalist and world record holder Wayde van Niekerk (South Africa), reigning Olympic and world champion pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis (Sweden), reigning Olympic and world champion triple jumper Yulimar Rojas (Venezuela), Tokyo Olympic 200m gold medalist Andre De Grasse (Canada), and Tokyo Olympic 400m hurdles gold medalist and world record holder Karsten Warholm (Norway), competing in front of his home crowd, are all expected to compete.

NBC Sports’ Paul Swangard will call the event, joined by four-time Olympic medalist Ato Boldon and veteran track & field commentator Tom Feuer on the CNBC broadcast.

NBC Sports will present more than 60 hours of exclusive coverage of the Diamond League this season across NBC, Peacock, and CNBC, including 30+ hours of live coverage streaming on Peacock. All 14 meets will be presented live on Peacock, with encore presentations of most on CNBC. NBC Sports will also present the 2023 World Athletics Championships from Budapest, Hungary, on August 19-27.

From September 16-17, NBC will present four hours of live coverage of the Prefontaine Classic, which will double as the Diamond League Final, from Hayward Field at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Ore. – home of the 2023 USATF Outdoor Championships. This will be the first time in history that the Diamond League Final will be held on U.S. soil.
