SAMITA MANNAPPERUMA NAMED CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER, NBC SPORTS
STAMFORD, Conn. – April 19, 2023 – NBC Sports announced today that Samita Mannapperuma has been named Chief Financial Officer. She has served as Senior Vice President, Business Development, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming since October 2020.
Mannapperuma reports to NBC Sports Chairman Pete Bevacqua, and has financial oversight of NBC Sports, which includes NBC Olympics, GOLF Channel, NBC Sports Digital, NBC Sports Next, and NBC Sports Audio.
Mannapperuma will also continue to oversee business development for NBC Sports. In that leadership role since 2015, she heads a team that evaluates business opportunities ranging from national and local rights deals to new business creation, investments, and acquisitions.
Mannapperuma worked on the acquisitions of premium rights for NBC Sports, including the August 2022 agreement for the Big Ten Conference, as well as extensions with the Premier League and PGA TOUR and the reacquisition of the USGA. She joined NBC Sports in 2012 as Director, Business Development.
“Samita’s financial expertise and sound analysis have been invaluable in NBC Sports’ major rights acquisitions in recent years,” said Bevacqua. “I am very pleased that she’s taking on this larger role for us.”
Prior to joining NBC, Mannapperuma spent three years working at the National Football League in business development, where she completed financial modeling and strategic analyses for the League’s major media rights agreements. She began her career as an investment banker in the technology, media, and telecommunications group at Goldman, Sachs, & Co. In 2023, she was named to Sports Business Journal’s “Forty Under 40” list. Mannapperuma graduated from Harvard University with a bachelor’s degree in Economics.
