STAMFORD, Conn. – March 1, 2023 – Peacock and CNBC will present live coverage this weekend of the Stifel America’s Downhill at Aspen, a FIS Alpine Ski World Cup event, beginning with the Men’s Downhill on Saturday, March 4, at 1 p.m. ET, and continuing with the Men’s Super-G on Sunday, March 5, at Noon ET. Aspen Mountain, Colo., which hosted the first World Championships held outside of the European borders in 1950, has hosted more than 100 FIS Alpine Ski World Cup races and was home to the World Cup Finals in 2017.
2022 Beijing Olympic super-G silver medalist Ryan Cochran-Siegle leads the U.S. contingent expected to compete in Aspen this weekend. Other notable Americans in the field include 2015 World Championships downhill silver medalist Travis Ganong, 2023 World Championships team gold medalist and Beijing Olympian River Radamus, and three-time Olympian Steven Nyman.
Steve Schlanger will handle play-by-play alongside former Stifel U.S. Alpine Ski Team member Steve Porino. Heather Cox will serve as reporter.

Two-time Olympic gold medalist Mikaela Shiffrin is one win away from tying Ingemar Stenmark’s all-time record of 86 career alpine skiing FIS World Cup victories across all disciplines. In January, she broke a tie with three-time Olympic medalist Lindsey Vonn to become the sole U.S. and women’s record holder for career FIS World Cup victories.
Live coverage of Shiffrin’s chase for 86 continues Friday, March 3, with the women’s super-G from Kvitfjell, Norway, at 5 a.m. ET. She will then race the women’s downhill on Saturday, March 4 at 5 a.m. ET and the women’s super-G again on Sunday, March 5 at 4:30 a.m. ET.
Every race will be presented live on the subscription streaming service SkiAndSnowboard.Live.

Passing Ingemar Stenmark’s record, which has stood since 1989, would make Shiffrin the winningest alpine skier of all time, and statistically, one of the most dominant athletes in individual sports history. If Shiffrin does not tie or pass Stenmark’s record this week, her next chance would be at the FIS World Cup event in Åre, Sweden, on March 10-11.
In addition to her World Cup chase, last month Shiffrin won the gold medal in giant slalom and silver medals in super-G and slalom at the 2023 World Championships in Méribel, France, bringing her total individual medal count at World Championships to 14, the most by a man or woman in the modern era.
