STAMFORD, Conn. – Nov. 2, 2022 – Super Bowl LIV MVP Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs (5-2) host Derrick Henry and the Tennessee Titans (5-2) in a battle of AFC first-place teams in this week’s edition of NBC’s Sunday Night Football. Coverage begins at 7 p.m. ET with Football Night in America, followed by kickoff at 8:20 p.m. ET from GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo., on NBC, Peacock and Universo.
Sunday marks the first Chiefs-Titans game in Kansas City since the 2019 AFC Championship Game, when Mahomes led the Chiefs to their first Super Bowl berth in 49 years. The Chiefs erased a 17-7 deficit and scored 35 unanswered points behind Mahomes’ four total touchdowns, including a now-iconic 27-yard touchdown run at the end of the first half that gave the Chiefs their first lead of the game. Kansas City holds a 30-25 advantage in the all-time series versus Tennessee, including playoffs.
Mahomes is off to an electric start this season, ranking in the top five in the NFL in passing touchdowns (20), passing yards (2,159), yards per game (308.4), and passer rating (109.5) en route to winning two AFC Offensive Player of the Week awards. His top target, six-time All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce, is tied for the league lead in receiving touchdowns (7) and on pace for a tight end-record seventh consecutive 1,000-yard receiving season.
The Chiefs beat the 49ers, 44-23, in Week 7 prior to their bye last week. Mahomes passed for a season-high 423 yards and three touchdowns in the victory while Mecole Hardman had three total touchdowns (two rushing, one receiving), becoming the first wide receiver in the Super Bowl era to record at least two rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown in a single game.
In team rankings, Kansas City ranks second in the league in offense (403.3 yards per game), trailing only Buffalo.
The streaking Titans defeated the Houston Texans, 17-10, to win their fifth game in a row last Sunday. Henry rushed for an NFL season-high 219 yards with two touchdowns – his NFL record-tying sixth career game with at least 200 rushing yards. Henry also has six career games with 200+ rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns, the most such games all-time and three more than second place.
Calling Titans-Chiefs is Mike Tirico (play-by-play); 17-time Emmy Award winner Cris Collinsworth (analyst); and Melissa Stark (sideline reporter). Three-time Super Bowl referee Terry McAulay is the Sunday Night Football rules analyst.

FLEXIBLE SCHEDULING:
Flexible scheduling will be used in Weeks 11-18. Additionally, in Weeks 5-10, flexible scheduling may be used in no more than two weeks. In Weeks 5-17, the schedule lists the games tentatively set for Sunday Night Football on NBC. Only Sunday afternoon games are eligible to be moved to Sunday night, in which case the tentatively scheduled Sunday night game would be moved to an afternoon start time.
For Week 18, two Saturday games and the Sunday night game will be announced no later than six days prior to January 9. The schedule does not list Saturday games or a Sunday night game in Week 18, but games with playoff implications will be moved to those time slots. Flexible scheduling ensures quality matchups in all Sunday time slots in those weeks and gives “surprise” teams a chance to play their way into primetime.
