STAMFORD, Conn. – Oct. 4, 2022 – Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens (2-2) host Joe Burrow and the reigning AFC champion Cincinnati Bengals (2-2) in an AFC North divisional clash in the Week 5 edition of NBC’s Sunday Night Football. Coverage begins at 7 p.m. ET with Football Night in America, followed by kickoff at 8:20 p.m. ET from M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Md., on NBC, Peacock and Universo.

This game marks Burrow’s regular season Sunday Night Football debut after appearing in two playoff games on NBC, including Super Bowl LVI, last season. This will be Jackson’s sixth regular season appearance on SNF, where he holds a record of 3-2. This will be the third career matchup between Jackson and Burrow, with the series tied one win apiece between the two young stars.

Jackson is one of the league’s most exciting players and was named AFC Offensive Player of the Month in September for the second time in his career. He is the first player in Ravens history to win the award more than once. The 2019 NFL MVP is tied for the NFL lead in touchdown passes (11) and is ranked in the top five among all players in the AFC in passer rating, rushing yards, and yards per carry (8.1). The Ravens have scored the second most points in the AFC this season.

The Ravens fell to the Bills, 23-20, in Week 4. Jackson passed for 144 yards and a touchdown and added 73 yards rushing while running back J.K. Dobbins had 63 total yards (41 rushing, 22 receiving) to go along with two scores.

The Bengals defeated the Dolphins, 27-15, in Week 4 for their second consecutive victory. Burrow threw for 287 yards and two touchdowns with wide receiver Tee Higgins making seven catches for 124 yards and a score. 2021 NFL Rookie of the Year Ja’Marr Chase added four receptions for 81 yards.

Burrow and Chase, who won the 2019 national championship together at LSU, have been one of the most explosive QB-WR pairings in the league since Chase was drafted in 2021. In only 20 career games played together, the two have combined for 1,722 yards and 15 touchdowns. Higgins and Chase have been one of the NFL’s strongest wide receiver duos this season, with both pass-catchers in the top-15 in receiving yards (315 and 293, respectively).

The Ravens and Bengals will meet for the 53rd time on Sunday, with Baltimore holding a 27-25 advantage in the all-time series. Burrow, the NFL’s most accurate passer last season (70.4 completion percentage) led the Bengals to victories in both meetings last season.

Calling Bengals-Ravens is Mike Tirico (play-by-play); 17-time Emmy Award winner Cris Collinsworth (analyst); and Melissa Stark (sideline reporter). Three-time Super Bowl referee Terry McAulay is the Sunday Night Football rules analyst.

FLEXIBLE SCHEDULING:

Flexible scheduling will be used in Weeks 11-18. Additionally, in Weeks 5-10, flexible scheduling may be used in no more than two weeks. In Weeks 5-17, the schedule lists the games tentatively set for Sunday Night Football on NBC. Only Sunday afternoon games are eligible to be moved to Sunday night, in which case the tentatively scheduled Sunday night game would be moved to an afternoon start time.

For Week 18, two Saturday games and the Sunday night game will be announced no later than six days prior to January 9. The schedule does not list Saturday games or a Sunday night game in Week 18, but games with playoff implications will be moved to those time slots.  Flexible scheduling ensures quality matchups in all Sunday time slots in those weeks and gives “surprise” teams a chance to play their way into primetime.
