Play-By-Play Voices Leigh Diffey and Paul Swangard to Call 10-Day Championship Meet with Reporter Lewis Johnson

July 15-24 – First-Ever Outdoor World Championships in United States from Oregon’s Hayward Field to be Presented Across NBC, Peacock, USA Network and CNBC

STAMFORD, Conn. – July 5, 2022 – Olympians Ato Boldon, Sanya Richards-Ross, Kara Goucher and Trey Hardee will serve as analysts for NBC Sports’ coverage of the World Track & Field Championships Oregon22 from the iconic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., from July 15-24. They will be joined by play-by-play voices Leigh Diffey and Paul Swangard, and reporter Lewis Johnson.

Olympic medalists Boldon and Richards-Ross, who won multiple medals at outdoor World Championship meets during their storied athletic careers, will call the sprints. Richards-Ross won seven World Championship medals, including five golds, while Boldon won four, including one gold. Boldon and Richards-Ross were successful on the Olympic stage as well, with Boldon earning four medals and Richards-Ross winning five, including four golds. Boldon began calling track & field for NBC Sports in 2007 while Richards-Ross joined in 2016.

Olympic distance runner Goucher will call the middle- and long-distance races. She won the silver medal in the 10,000m at the 2007 World Championships. Olympic decathlete Hardee will report on field and combined events. He won gold in the decathlon at the 2009 and 2011 World Championships, and also earned silver in the decathlon at the 2012 London Olympics. Goucher made her NBC Sports debut for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, while Hardee made his during the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Diffey, NBC Sports’ lead track & field announcer, will handle play-by-play duties for all track events, while Swangard will call field events. Johnson, who joined NBC Sports in 1999 and has worked on 12 Olympic Games, will serve as reporter.

Coverage of the World Track & Field Championships Oregon22 begins on Friday, July 15. In total, NBC Sports will present 43 hours of television coverage plus extensive streaming coverage throughout the 10-day championship meet including four nights of live primetime weekend coverage (July 16-17, July 23-24) and four days of live afternoon weekend coverage (July 16-17, July 23-24) on the NBC broadcast network.
