STAMFORD, Conn. – June 22, 2022 – NBC Sports’ “Summer of Speed” continues this weekend when it presents live coverage of the USATF Outdoor Championships with six hours of semifinals and finals coverage over three days from the iconic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Live coverage begins this Friday, June 24, at 10 p.m. ET on CNBC with qualifying rounds for numerous events as well as the finals for both the men’s and women’s 100 meters.

This meet will determine which U.S. athletes will get the opportunity to represent their country at the World Track & Field Championships Oregon22 at Hayward Field in July, where they will face off against an elite slate of international competition made up of Olympic champions, world record holders, and global medalists.

In her final professional season, 11-time Olympic medalist and 13-time world champion Allyson Felix is slated to compete in the 400m. She has made every world and Olympic team for the U.S. since 2003. Beyond Felix, the U.S. has a slew of top-tier athletes looking to continue their dominance on the domestic stage, such as Tokyo Olympic champion and world record holder Sydney McLaughlin, two-time Olympic champion and shot put world record holder Ryan Crouser, two-time Olympic gold medalist Athing Mu, Tokyo silver medalist Kenny Bednarek, and Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist and reigning 200m world champion Noah Lyles. Other Olympic medalists expected to compete are Fred Kerley, Emma Coburn, Grant Holloway, Gabby Thomas, Dalilah Muhammad, Rai Benjamin, Courtney Frerichs, Michael Norman, Valarie Allman, and Clayton Murphy, among others.

This meet also provides a platform for rising stars to showcase their talents on a major competitive stage, such as high school phenom Erriyon Knighton, who ran the fourth-fastest 200m time in history in April, and Abby Steiner, the University of Kentucky standout who recently won the 200m and the 4x400m relay at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Also expected to compete in this meet is two-time Olympian Devon Allen, who ran the third-fastest 110m hurdles time in history at the NYC Grand Prix in June, and Sha’Carri Richardson, the 2019 NCAA champion from LSU who became the sixth-fastest woman in history over 100m last year.

NBC Sports’ Leigh Diffey and Paul Swangard will call the event, joined by analysts four-time Olympic medalist Ato Boldon, four-time Olympic gold medalist Sanya Richards-Ross, two-time Olympic marathoner Kara Goucher, and 2012 Olympic decathlon silver medalist Trey Hardee.
