Four Weekend Nights of Live Primetime Coverage on NBC Broadcast Network

Extensive Streaming Coverage Across Peacock During 10-Day Event

STAMFORD, Conn. – June 15, 2022 – One month from today, the World Track & Field Championships Oregon22 will begin from the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field and will be presented across numerous networks and platforms of NBCUniversal. It will be the first time the outdoor World Championships will ever be held in the U.S. and NBC Sports will utilize NBC, Peacock, USA Network, CNBC and NBC Sports digital platforms to provide extensive coverage.

In total, NBC Sports will present 43 hours of television coverage plus extensive streaming coverage throughout the 10-day championship meet including four nights of live primetime weekend coverage (July 16-17, July 23-24) and four days of live afternoon weekend coverage (July 16-17, July 23-24) on the NBC broadcast network.

Peacock will stream all competition sessions from Eugene, including exclusive live primetime coverage on July 18 and July 19. In addition, Peacock will simulstream all live coverage on NBC, with full simulstreaming of NBC, USA Network and CNBC programming available on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app.

USA Network will provide coverage primarily for full competition sessions during weekdays in primetime, while CNBC will have two windows during the first weekend of the meet. Specific tune-in details across all networks and platforms will be announced soon. For a full event schedule, click here.

The prestigious meet will be held at University of Oregon’s iconic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., which re-opened its doors in 2021 after undergoing major renovations from 2018-2020 that have cemented its status as one of track & field’s premiere venues for international competition.

Dubbed “TrackTown USA,” Eugene and the University of Oregon have hosted multiple U.S. and NCAA championship meets and Diamond League competitions, making it only fitting that it hosts the first-ever outdoor World Championships in the U.S., which was originally scheduled for 2021, but was delayed after the 2020 Tokyo Olympics postponement.

NBC Sports and World Athletics agreed to a long-term media rights extension in November 2020 that will keep World Athletics track & field on NBC through 2029, with the World Track & Field Championships Oregon22 being the first of five outdoor World Championships that will be showcased on the network over the next seven years (2022, 2023, 2025, 2027, 2029). NBC will also present the next four indoor World Championships, World Athletics Relays, and World Athletics Under 20 World Championships, as well as the next five World Athletics Cross Country Championships and World Athletics Half Marathon Championships.

In addition to the World Championships, NBC Sports is set to present six hours of coverage of the U.S. Outdoor Championships across NBC, Peacock, USA Network, and CNBC from June 24-26. This national championship meet will be held at Hayward Field, with the top athletes in the U.S. all vying for spots on the prestigious team that will be sent to compete at the World Championships later that summer.
