NEW YORK, NY – May 3, 2022 – Sports Eleven05 has announced Toyota Motor Sales, USA the title sponsor for a new Historically Black College and University (HBCU) college football game scheduled to be played annually at MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ.

Toyota has agreed to a multi-year title sponsorship deal with Sports Eleven05, a New York based company, which owns and operates the HBCU New York Football Classic. The game will now be promoted as the Toyota HBCU New York Football Classic and the inaugural football game will be held Saturday, September 17, 2022.

The Toyota HBCU New York Football Classic features teams from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC). The two featured football teams participating in this historic game are Howard University and Morehouse College, two of the country’s most prestigious HBCU’s. One of the missions of the game is to raise funds and awareness for the HBCU “Tools for School” in which one student from each HBCU (105) will receive financial assistance and the necessary technology tools to enhance their educational success in college.

“Having this partnership with Toyota, speaks volumes to the value and viability of both participating HBCU schools, and the importance that they have on the HBCU culture, sports, and landscape in the state of New Jersey, and within the city of New York,” said Derick Moore, Executive Producer and Founder of the HBCU New York Football Classic.

“This partnership with Toyota puts us in a position to execute and elevate HBCU football and its culture here in the New York tri-state market for years to come,” Moore said of the partnership, which also makes Toyota the “official automotive partner” for the game.

“Toyota is honored to be the title sponsor for the inaugural HBCU NYC Football Classic.  The rich culture and heritage of HBCUs are the fabric of many of our greatest communities; and we are so excited to expand that footprint with this special event. We look forward to welcoming HBCU grads, their families and supporters from all over the region for an unforgettable experience,” said Jessamine Merrill, General Manager, Media Strategy and Engagement.

The Toyota HBCU New York Football Classic, which will be broadcast live nationally on CNBC from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, is projected to generate about $15 million in economic impact for the New Jersey and New York Convention and Visitors Bureau. For more information visit
