STAMFORD, Conn. – Feb. 6, 2022 – Two-time Olympic gold medalist and the winningest slalom skier in World Cup history Mikaela Shiffrin makes her 2022 Winter Olympics debut tonight when she competes in the women’s alpine skiing giant slalom live in primetime at 7 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock. Shiffrin looks to defend the gold medal after winning the event in 2018.
Tonight’s live primetime coverage on NBC and Peacock will also feature the final three programs in the figure skating team event (women’s free skate, pairs’ free skate, free dance). The U.S. team currently stands in second place in the event.
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 6
Two-time Olympic gold medalist and the winningest slalom skier in World Cup history Mikaela Shiffrin will compete in the women’s giant slalom tonight live in primetime at 7 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock. Shiffrin’s first run will be presented live in primetime and her final run will be presented at 1:45 a.m. ET. She looks to defend the gold medal after winning the event in 2018. The giant slalom will mark the first of potentially five events Shiffrin will compete in Beijing.
The final three programs in the figure skating team event — women’s free skate, pairs’ free skate, and free dance — will air tonight live in primetime on NBC and Peacock. 2018 Olympian Karen Chen will participate in the women’s free skate and Madison Chock and Evan Bates will compete in the free dance for the U.S. Following two days of the team event competition, the U.S. is currently second in the points standings trailing the Russian Olympic Committee 45-42.
2018 Olympians Bryce Bennett and Ryan Cochran-Siegle, and 2014 Olympian Travis Ganong headline the U.S. contingent in the men’s alpine skiing downhill tonight live at 11 p.m. ET on USA Network and Peacock after the event was postponed yesterday due to weather (also presented at 12:50 a.m. ET on NBC and Peacock).
2018 Olympic gold medalist Red Gerard headlines American contenders in the men’s snowboarding slopestyle final tonight live at 11 p.m. ET on Peacock, as well as at 12:05 a.m. ET on NBC and Peacock. The U.S. attempts to win a third consecutive gold medal in the event following Gerard in 2018 and Sage Kotsenburg in 2014.
Jaelin Kauf wins the silver medal in the women’s moguls final — the first American medal in women’s moguls since 2014 — tonight at 7 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
Qualifying in the women’s freestyle skiing big air event will be presented tonight live in primetime at 8:30 p.m. ET on USA Network and Peacock featuring 2018 Olympian Maggie Voisin and Eileen Gu of China.
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 7
One of the fiercest rivalries in sports and a rematch of the 2018 women’s hockey gold medal game will be presented when the U.S. plays Canada in pool play tomorrow live at 11:10 p.m. ET on USA Network and Peacock. Pre-game coverage begins at 10:45 p.m. ET. The U.S. is undefeated in Group A through three games after defeating Switzerland 8-0 earlier today.
Three-time world champion and 2018 Olympian Nathan Chen highlights the men’s figure skating short program tomorrow live in primetime at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock (also presented live at 8:15 p.m. ET on USA Network). Earlier in the week, Chen earned the second-highest men’s short program score in history (111.71) as part of the team event.
Cochran-Siegle and Ganong are expected to lead the U.S. alpine skiing team in the men’s Super-G tomorrow live in primetime on NBC and Peacock.
The women’s freestyle skiing big air final will air tomorrow live in primetime at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock. 2018 Olympian Maggie Voisin is expected to vie for a spot on the podium, while Eileen Gu (China) is also expected to be a medal contender.
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 8
Shiffrin is expected to continue her quest for multiple medals at the 2022 Winter Olympics in the women’s slalom Tuesday live in primetime at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock. The event marks the latest chapter in a rivalry between Shiffrin and Petra Vlhova of Slovakia, who have combined to win 39 of the past 42 World Cup slalom races.
2018 Olympic gold medalist Chloe Kim makes her 2022 Winter Olympics debut in women’s snowboarding halfpipe qualifying Tuesday live at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock (also presented live at 8:30 p.m. ET on USA Network). Three-time Olympic gold medalist Shaun White, who is competing in his fifth Olympic Games, headlines the men’s snowboarding halfpipe qualifying field Tuesday live at 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
In the Olympic debut of big air in freestyle skiing, 2018 Olympian Alex Hall is expected to be a medal contender in the event, with the final airing Tuesday live at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
