MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (Feb. 3, 2022) – As NBCUniversal’s coverage of the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games begins this week, SportsEngine today unveiled its Kids Guide to the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, an easy and interactive way NBC Sports Next is giving families with kids the ability to create shared experiences surrounding one of the most-anticipated and most-watched sporting events in the U.S.

NBCUniversal will present a Winter Olympics-record 2,800-plus hours over coverage across NBC, Peacock, USA Network, CNBC, NBCOlympics.com and the NBC Sports app when the XXIV Olympic Winter Games from Beijing, China, begin this week. Click here for full programming details.

“The Olympic Games can create lifelong emotional connections with viewers, and we’re excited to help families begin to share the excitement and bigness of the Games with this perfect companion piece,” said Brett MacKinnon, senior vice president and general manager, Youth & Recreational Sports, NBC Sports Next. “In line with our mission to help kids and sports connect, this colorful and interactive guide is designed to convey the excitement and history of the Games while inspiring kids to understand the significance of the Olympics while they watch.”

SportsEngine, part of the NBC Sports Next portfolio of brands within NBC Sports Group, helps youth sports clubs, leagues and teams better manage their activities through easy-to-use technology platforms, is offering the guide to anyone to download for free at www.sportsengine.com/kids-guide.

Chock full of history, fun facts, games, puzzles, as well as eye-catching graphics and photography geared toward ages 7-12, the Kids Guide features all 15 Winter Olympic sports and – for the first time – all five Paralympic sports captured across 60 pages. Each sport has its own page, which includes an introduction to the sport, facts and trivia, and athlete profiles, as well as different activities like drawing, word scrambles, coloring, quizzes and more. Families can learn about the history of the Games, the creation of its iconic symbols and the countries that participate.

“With every imaginable topic covered, this comprehensive guide provides a unique opportunity for parents to make the Beijing Olympics a fun and engaging learning experience for their kids,” said Rob Bedeaux, director of Consumer Engagement, Youth & Recreational Sports, NBC Sports Next. “It’s really something the entire family can enjoy together.”

Families can tune in to NBCUniversal’s Olympic coverage from Feb. 2-20. The Opening Ceremony will be presented on Friday, Feb. 4, live in the morning and again in primetime on NBC and Peacock. Similar to recent Winter Games, NBC’s primetime Olympic coverage begins on Thursday, Feb. 3, the night before the Opening Ceremony. Coverage begins Wednesday, Feb. 2, on USA Network and Peacock. NBCUniversal is presenting its 18th Olympic Games, 12th consecutive overall, and sixth straight Winter Games, all the most by any U.S. media company.
