LINDSEY VONN TO JOIN NBC OLYMPICS TEAM FOR 2022 WINTER GAMES

Vonn – Olympic Gold Medalist and the Winningest Woman in Alpine Skiing World Cup History – to Serve as Primetime Correspondent

Opening Ceremony of the 2022 Winter Olympics is Friday, Feb. 4 on NBC & Peacock; Primetime Coverage on NBC Begins Thursday, Feb. 3

STAMFORD, Conn. – January 19, 2022 – Lindsey Vonn, the Olympic gold medalist and winningest woman in alpine skiing World Cup history, will join NBC Olympics for its coverage of the 2022 Winter Games, it was announced today.

A four-time Olympian, Vonn made her on-air debut with the NBC Sports team in January 2021 for several days of competition in women’s downhill and Super-G events from Crans Montana, Switzerland. She will serve as a primetime correspondent.

“As one of the greatest Olympic skiers of all time and a superstar who has transcended her sport, we’re thrilled to have Lindsey join our team,” said Molly Solomon, Executive Producer & President, NBC Olympics Production. “Lindsey will provide a perspective unique to an athlete known for excellence, intensity and determination on the world’s biggest and most competitive stage.”

“I am excited to share my perspective along with my insight on what athletes might be feeling during high pressure moments,” Vonn said. “My first memories of Olympics were from NBC broadcast, so I am very excited to be working with a team that has been there for so many amazing Olympic moments.”

Vonn is among the most decorated alpine skiers of all time. Over the course of her career, she won 82 World Cup races, which is the most by a woman and second-most all time behind only Ingemar Stenmark of Sweden. Participating in four Olympic Games (2002, 2006, 2010, 2018), Vonn amassed three Olympic medals, including gold in the downhill at the Vancouver Winter Olympics in 2010, where she became the first American woman to win gold in that discipline.

Vonn is one of only seven women to have won World Cup races in all five major disciplines of alpine skiing — downhill, Super-G, giant slalom, slalom, and super combined. She is a four-time winner of the overall World Cup title and won a women’s record 16 career World Cup discipline titles.

Last week, Vonn released her memoire RISE: My Story revealing never-before-told stories of her life in the fast lane, her struggle with depression, and the bold decisions that helped her break down barriers on and off the slopes.

Vonn is co-director and executive producer with Frank Marshall of the new documentary PICABO, a career-spanning film chronicling the life of Picabo Street, the alpine skiing icon of the 1990s and Vonn’s childhood hero. The documentary debuts on Peacock this Friday, January 21.

In 2014, she established the Lindsey Vonn Foundation to help the next generation grow as individuals in whatever their passions may be as learners, athletes, or artists.
