STAMFORD, Conn. – Oct. 7, 2021 – NBC Sports presents live coverage of the Chicago Marathon this Sunday, Oct. 10 at 8 a.m. ET and the Boston Marathon Monday, Oct. 11 at 7:30 a.m. ET on NBCSN and Peacock.
The Chicago Marathon field is expected to feature Americans Galen Rupp, a two-time Olympic medalist and 2017 Chicago Marathon champion, and Sara Hall who will attempt to break the American marathon record, as well as reigning world champion Ruth Chepngetich of Kenya. NBC Sports’ Paul Swangard calls the action alongside analysts two-time Olympian Kara Goucher and seven-time Paralympian Chris Waddell.
The Boston Marathon, celebrating its 125th anniversary, returns to its traditional route this year after the 2020 race was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fourteen former champions highlight this year’s elite field, including 2018 Boston Marathon Champion and two-time Olympian Des Linden. Fellow Americans Jordan Hasay, who twice has finished third in Boston, as well as Molly Huddle, a 28-time national champion on the roads and track who returns to Boston for a second time, also look to factor into the race. They will be challenged by 2016 Olympic bronze medalist Mare Dibaba and Yebrgual Melese, both from Ethiopia. Two-time men’s winner Lelisa Desisa, who is also from Ethiopia, headlines the men’s field and will be challenged by a pair of Americans in five-time Olympian Abdi Abdirahman and Scott Fauble, the top American finisher at the 2019 edition of this race.
Swangard, Goucher, Waddell, and NBC Sports Boston’s Amina Smith call the Boston Marathon.
In addition to Peacock, the races will stream live on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app.
