Part Two, Airing Sept. 19 on NBC, Will Introduce the Two Teams & Whistling Straits
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (September 10, 2021) – “Road to the Ryder Cup” — a two-episode PGA of America special that debuts on NBC on Sunday, Sept. 12 — sets the stage for the 43rd Ryder Cup, which will be played at Whistling Straits (Straits Course) in Kohler, Wisconsin, Sept. 24-26.
In the first episode, host Mark Rolfing chronicles the historical moments from more than 90 years of the biennial competition. Players past and present will share their favorite Ryder Cup stories from golf’s most prestigious team event.
A golf analyst for more than 30 years—including 15 Ryder Cups —and a PGA Professional, Rolfing will profile U.S. Captain Steve Stricker and European Captain Padraig Harrington, delving into their careers, relationship with one another and preview how they’ll match wits as captains.
Episode 1 of “Road to the Ryder Cup” will debut nationally Sunday, Sept. 12, from 1 - 1:30 p.m. ET on NBC, with replays airing on Golf Channel on Tuesday, Sept. 14, from 1 - 1:30 p.m. ET and 5:30 - 6 a.m. ET.
Episode 2 will introduce viewers to the 12-man teams that Stricker and Harrington will take to Whistling Straits, shedding light on the American and European talents most likely to be difference makers. It will also showcase Whistling Straits’ famed Straits Course, its pedigree, its penchant for drama and explain why it is expected to be such a terrific test for match play.
NBC will debut Episode 2 of “Road to the Ryder Cup” on Sunday, Sept. 19, from 2 - 3 p.m. Golf Channel will re-air it on Monday, Sept. 20, from 6 - 7 a.m.
Both “Road to the Ryder Cup” episodes will feature segments presented by some of the Ryder Cup’s Worldwide Partners, including Aon, BMW, RBC and Rolex.
Since its inception in 1927, the Ryder Cup has grown to become one of golf’s most historic and prestigious events. Not only is it now the most coveted team prize in golf, but also one of the world’s greatest sporting spectacles, predictably rich in excitement, drama and the highest level of competition.
