STAMFORD, Conn.Sept. 8, 2021 – NBC Sports presents a NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series doubleheader from Richmond Raceway this Saturday, Sept. 11, as the second race of the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs is presented in primetime at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN. An hour-long edition of Countdown to Green pre-race coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

Coverage of the NASCAR doubleheader from Darlington will begin Saturday at 2 p.m. ET with Countdown to Green on NBCSN, leading into Xfinity Series racing at 2:30 p.m. ET. Xfinity Series pre-race coverage kicks off 11 consecutive hours of motorsports coverage Saturday on NBCSN across NASCAR, INDYCAR and Mecum Auctions.

25-year-old phenom singer and songwriter, Marcus King takes center stage in NBC Sports’ NASCAR Playoffs show open, featuring a racing-centric twist on his hit single “The Well” from Grammy-nominated solo album “El Dorado.” The open, which debuted last weekend during race coverage at Darlington, will be featured as the opening sequence leading into Playoff races this season on NBC and NBCSN. NBC Sports’ lead NASCAR race announcer Rick Allen will call Saturday’s Cup Series race with Daytona 500-winning crew chief Steve Letarte, 21-time Cup Series race winner and “The Mayor” of NASCAR Jeff Burton, and NASCAR Hall of Fame selection Dale Earnhardt Jr. Allen will call the Xfinity race alongside NASCAR Hall of Fame driver Dale Jarrett and Letarte. Earnhardt Jr. will be competing in the Xfinity race in his sole start of the season. Earnhardt Jr. owns 24 career Xfinity wins, with his most recent in April 2016 at Richmond.

Marty Snider, Parker Kligerman and Dillon Welch will contribute coverage from pit road during Saturday’s doubleheader from Richmond.

Pre- and post-race coverage on Saturday will be anchored by Marty Snider alongside Kyle Petty and Brad Daugherty from the Peacock Pit Box. Dale Jarrett will also join post-race coverage following the Cup Series race.

During pre-race coverage of the Cup Series race, Tim Layden narrates an essay looking back at what it was like in the aftermath of the tragedy of September 11, 2001 until the return of the sport at Dover International Speedway on September 23, 2001, with insights from NASCAR President Mike Helton and Dale Earnhardt Jr., who won the Dover race.

In the Cup Series playoff opener last week at Darlington, Denny Hamlin won his first Cup Series race of the year, while Noah Gragson won the Xfinity Series race in overtime.

The official home of the NASCAR Championship and Playoffs, NBC Sports will once again present the final 20 NASCAR Cup Series races and 19 NASCAR Xfinity Series races in 2021, culminating with the Championship at Phoenix Raceway on Nov. 6-7. INDYCAR: GRAND PRIX OF PORTLAND

The 2021 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season continues this weekend with the Grand Prix of Portland, kicking off a three-race West Coast swing to conclude the season. Pre-race coverage begins Sunday at 3 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock, with race coverage beginning at 3:30 p.m. ET. INDYCAR coverage from Portland begins with practice Saturday at noon ET on Peacock, which will stream all practice and qualifying sessions.

Pato O’Ward (435 points) sits atop the season standings narrowly ahead of Alex Palou (425 pts) and two-time INDYCAR champion Josef Newgarden (413 pts). Will Power won the last running of the Grand Prix of Portland in 2019, after not being contested last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Lucas Oil Motocross 250 Class championship will be decided between Jett Lawrence and Justin Cooper at the Hangtown Motocross Classic from Sacramento, Calif., Sunday at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN. The four-day auction from Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, Texas, features nearly 1,000 classic and collector vehicles ranging from entry-level collectibles to multimillion-dollar auctions, headlined by the 1969 Chevrolet Copo Camaro and the 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 Fastback, among many others.

MOTOGP: ARAGON GRAND PRIX

The 2021 MotoGP season continues with the Aragon Grand Prix from MotorLand Aragon in Alcaniz, Spain, this Sunday at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN. Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo, owner of five wins and eight podiums on the season, leads the points standings followed by Suzuki rider Joan Mir and Ducati rider Johann Zarco.
