STAMFORD, Conn. – Aug. 31, 2021 – NBCUniversal has added 17 hours to its record coverage of the Tokyo Paralympics presented by Toyota this week, including an additional primetime hour on NBC this Saturday at 9 p.m. ET. The two-hour window beginning at 8 p.m. ET, which will also stream on Peacock, will feature the first two episodes of a docu-follow series showcasing the incredible stories and performances of athletes competing in Tokyo. Featured athletes include Tatyana McFadden (track & field), Brad Snyder (triathlon), David Brown (track & field), Anastasia Pagonis (swimming), U.S. team flagbearers Melissa Stockwell (triathlon) and Chuck Aoki (wheelchair rugby), and Jessica Long (swimming). The docu-follow series concludes in primetime Sunday from 7-9 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
In addition to the live coverage that airs nightly, NBCSN is presenting a two- or three-hour ‘Best of’ program that recaps highlights and performances from the prior day each day this week. USA Network will also show a two-hour ‘Best of’ program this Saturday at 9 a.m. ET.
Live competition coverage of wheelchair basketball, swimming, track & field and road cycling continues tonight beginning at 9 p.m. ET on NBCSN. 2016 gold medalist Steve Serio and the U.S. men’s wheelchair basketball team play Turkey in the quarterfinals live tonight at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN.
This week, 26-time Paralympic medalist and the second-most decorated Paralympian in U.S. history Jessica Long will be competing in the women’s 100m breaststroke SB7 and the women’s 100m butterfly S8, tonight and Thursday, respectively. On the track, 19-time Paralympic medalist Tatyana McFadden will compete in the women’s 1500m T54 tonight and the women’s 400m T54 on Thursday. Team USA has won 63 medals thus far in competition.
