SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev., July 6, 2021 – This week, the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament will feature the strongest field from the world of sports and entertainment in the championship’s 32-year history, headlined by Justin Timberlake, Stephen, Dell and Seth Curry, Annika Sorenstam, Patrick Mahomes, Michael Strahan, Tony Romo, Aaron Rodgers, Charles Barkley and defending champion Mardy Fish. NBC Sports will televise live 10 hours of live coverage Friday-Sunday, July 9-11, with the networks of NBCUniversal surrounding live tournament coverage all week in delivering its most robust linear and digital coverage in tournament history.

TOP FIELD IN TOURNAMENT HISTORY: A field of 89 participants from the world of sports and entertainment will compete in the 54-hole tournament, taking place at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course on the shores of Lake Tahoe. All told, the field collectively represents 17 Hall of Famers, 13 Most Valuable Player awards, 15 Cy Young Awards, eight Player of the Year awards and multiple Grammy and Emmy Award winners. SEVEN FIRST-TIME PARTICIPANTS: Headlining the field of seven first-time participants includes Seth Curry, who will be joining older brother, Stephen and their father, Dell; and Pro Football Hall-of-Famer/Television Analyst Michael Strahan. Joining them as first-time participants are Derek Carr, Sean McDermott, CC Sabathia, Justin Tuck and Andrew Whitworth.

SORENSTAM HEADLINES TRIO OF WOMEN IN FIELD: World Golf Hall-of-Famer Annika Sorenstam will compete in the American Century Championship for a second time (2014), marking her final competitive venture before teeing it up in the U.S. Senior Women’s Open later this month. She will be joined by TODAY Show anchor/meteorologist Dylan Dreyer and GOLF Channel reporter/2015 Miss America Kira K. Dixon as the women competing in the championship.

NBC SPORTS BROADCAST TEAM: Host Steve Sands and analyst Peter Jacobsen will anchor NBC Sports’ live tournament coverage from Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course. They will be joined by Jimmy Roberts as a hole announcer, along with Curt Byrum and Roger Maltbie reporting from the course. Damon Hack will conduct interviews with players in the field throughout the championship.

RACE AND SPORTS IN AMERICA – CONVERSATIONS: On Thursday, GOLF Channel’s Damon Hack will host a series of roundtable conversations with several players in the field – including Stephen and Dell Curry, Jimmy Rollins, Justin Tuck and Kyle Rudolph – that will be utilized for a special that is scheduled to premiere on Peacock on Saturday, July 17. One year after the series’ initial premiere in July, 2020 from the American Century Championship, Race and Sports in America will continue the conversations on social justice, race and ways that sports can continue to fight inequality as the panelists reflect on the past year and look ahead to the future.

TODAY SHOW, CNBC, NBC SPORTS REGIONAL NETWORKS AND NBC LOCAL AFFILIATES SURROUND COVERAGE: Wednesday-Friday leading up to the opening round of coverage, the TODAY Show, CNBC, NBC Sports Regional Networks and local NBC affiliates across the country will prepare viewers for live coverage with interviews from Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course with players in the field.

PEACOCK’S BROTHER FROM ANOTHER LIVE FROM EDGEWOOD TAHOE: Peacock’s daily talk show Brother From Another will broadcast live from Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course Wednesday-Friday, featuring interviews with players in the field and NBC Sports’ broadcast team. Michael Holley and Michael Smith will host from Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course from 3-5 pm ET Wednesday-Friday, streaming live on Peacock.

NBC SPORTS’ BEYOND THE FAIRWAY AND BET THE EDGE PODCASTS: Two of NBC Sports’ signature podcasts, Beyond the Fairway, hosted by Will Lowery and Doug Smith, and Bet the Edge, hosted by Sara Perlman, will deliver exclusive content and interviews from the American Century Championship throughout the week. BIG BREAK GLASS BREAK CHALLENGE, WEDNESDAY, JULY 7: Celebrities in the field will have the opportunity to compete in the “Glass Break Challenge”, the signature challenge from GOLF Channel’s long-running reality competition series, Big Break. GOLF Channel’s School of Golf co-host and former Big Break winner Blair O’Neal will host the Glass Break Challenge on Wednesday, with exclusive content airing via GOLF Channel, GolfPass and NBC Sports’ digital and social media platforms beginning Thursday leading into the championship.

GOLF CHANNEL NEWS COVERAGE: GOLF Channel’s news shows Golf Today and Golf Central will surround NBC Sports’ live tournament coverage with news coverage and highlights throughout the week.

SOCIAL MEDIA COVERAGE: The American Century Championship’s social media handles (@ACChampionship on Twitter and Instagram, and Facebook) will provide exclusive behind-the-scenes content throughout the week. Live tournament coverage also will integrate social media into its telecasts Friday-Sunday, incorporating social media posts from celebrities, athletes and fans using the hashtag #ACCGolf.

MORE THAN $5.5 MILLION DONATED TO CHARITY: Since the tournament’s inception in 1980, the American Century Championship has donated more than $5.5 million to charity and non-profits. The 2020 tournament was safely conducted in 2020 albeit without spectators amidst the global pandemic and raised $600,000 for COVID-19 and social justice charities while fulfilling its commitment to promote the Lake Tahoe region in the destination resort’s biggest week of the year. The event features a $600,000 purse, with $125,000 going to the winner, with many of the players donating their winnings to charities and non-profits.
