STAMFORD, Conn. – June 22, 2021 – NBC Sports will present three weeks of wall-to-wall live and encore coverage of the 108th Tour de France on NBC, NBCSN and Peacock. Daily live coverage of the Tour de France, featuring all 21 stages, begins this Saturday, June 26,at 6 a.m. ET on NBCSN with the Tour de France Pre-Race Show, followed by Stage 1 at 6:30 a.m. ET on NBCSN and Peacock.

Coverage continues throughout each day of the 21-stage event, beginning on weekdays with the Tour de France Pre-Race Show, followed by live race coverage. Coverage culminates with the final stage on Sunday, July 18, live at 10:30 a.m. ET on NBCSN and Peacock.

The 2021 Tour de France will cover a total distance of 2,121 miles, beginning in Brest, France, and finishing 23 days later in Paris. The 2021 race will travel through France and Principality of Andorra.

Expected frontrunners in this year’s field include defending champion Tadej Pogačar (UAE-Team Emirates) of Slovenia, Primož Roglič (Jumbo-Visma), who placed second in the 2020 Tour de France, 2018 champion Geraint Thomas (INEOS Grenadiers), and Julian Alaphilippe (Deceuninck - Quick Step). Sprinters expected to compete include 30-time stage winner Mark Cavendish (Deceuninck – Quick-Step), Caleb Ewan (Lotto-Soudal), and seven-time Tour de France points classification winner Peter Sagan (Bora-Hansgrohe). Four Americans will be competing in this year’s Tour de France: 26-year old American Sepp Kuss (Jumbo-Visma), who made his Tour de France debut last year, Brandon McNulty (UAE-Team Emirates), a 23-year-old riding in his first Tour de France, Neilson Powless (EF Education – Nippo), and Sean Bennett (Team Qhubeka ASSOS).

COMMENTATORS

NBC Sports’ coverage of the 2021 Tour de France features Phil Liggett, universally known as the “voice of cycling,” who will call play-by-play race action. Analyst Bob Roll will join Liggett on the call and Steve Porino serves as the reporter from on-site in France.

Paul Burmeister will host daily pre-race and post-race studio coverage, along with former professional cyclist and analyst Christian Vande Velde and American Grand Tour champion Chris Horner. Former professional cyclist Adam Blythe, who retired in 2019, will serve as a reporter in France.

PRODUCTION HIGHLIGHTS

NBC Sports will integrate several features into its coverage of this year’s Tour de France:

  • NBC Sports will utilize a cutting edge “Virtual” graphics Telestrator, which debuted throughout the 2019 Tour de France and produces augmented reality cyclist graphics for the commentators to move and analyze;
  • Blythe will have a camera focused on him as he reports to offer real-time updates on race situations, while traveling aboard a motorcycle on the course;

  • Real-time data of course gradients and the riders’ speeds;
  • 3-D animated maps that track where the riders are in real-time on the route.

NBC Sports’ coverage will include real-time speeds of both the leaders and the peloton, and additional maps that show more detailed versions of the finishes and each mountain climb.

NBC and NBCSN will also utilize several production enhancements, including a pointer feature to easily identify and focus on one rider in the peloton, and exclusive profiles on teams and riders.

PEACOCK

Peacock will provide live streaming coverage of every stage of the 2021 Tour de France, featuring live, commercial-free, start-to-finish coverage of every stage of the Tour de France, featuring commentary from NBC Sports’ Phil Liggett, as well as the World Feed. Live stream access to La Course by Le Tour begins on Saturday, June 26, beginning at 6:30 a.m. ET. Peacock will also feature full stage replays, highlights, stage recaps and rider interviews. On select days, fans will be able to live stream early morning coverage prior to the start of linear coverage, noted in the chart below.

The Tour de France joins expansive sports programming on Peacock. Upcoming live sports coverage on Peacock includes NHL Semifinal games, Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, Premier Lacrosse League, INDYCAR, Premiership Rugby, the 2021-22 Premier League season, 2021 Sunday Night Football, and Super Bowl LVI.
