STAMFORD, Conn. – May 3, 2021 – Nicklas Backstrom and the Washington Capitals, who are battling for the top spot in the East Division, face Artemi Panarin and the New York Rangers on this week’s edition of Wednesday Night Hockey at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN, as NBC Sports’ “Push for the Playoffs” continues this week with a Wednesday night doubleheader. Wednesday’s nightcap features Nathan MacKinnon and the Colorado Avalanche in a West Division matchup against Evander Kane and the San Jose Sharks at 9:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN.
Brad Marchand and the surging Boston Bruins face Panarin and the Rangers twice this week with East Division playoff ramifications on the line: Thursday at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN and Saturday at 3 p.m. ET on NBC. The Bruins, on the verge of clinching a playoff berth, have won six straight home games and eight of their last 10 games overall.
This week’s NHL coverage begins tonight at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN, when Mark Stone and the West Division-leading Vegas Golden Knights play Calder Trophy contender Kirill Kaprizov and the Minnesota Wild. Golden Knights goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury is currently tied for third place on the NHL’s all-time wins list with Roberto Luongo (489) and will move into sole possession of second place with his next victory.
