STAMFORD, Conn. – April 22, 2021 – NBC Sports will present nearly 150 hours of live USGA championship coverage this season, beginning Saturday, May 8 with the Walker Cup from Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Fla.
In total, NBC Sports will provide live coverage of nine USGA events this season across NBC, GOLF Channel and Peacock, highlighted by the U.S. Open from Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego (June 17-20) and the U.S. Women’s Open from The Olympic Club in San Francisco (June 3-6).
NBC Sports will complement USGA championship play with pre- and post-event coverage, special features, original programming, and more.
“We are excited to begin our first full season of nine USGA championships and present live, comprehensive coverage of each prestigious event across NBC, GOLF Channel and Peacock, starting with the Walker Cup at the majestic Seminole Golf Club,” said Molly Solomon, Executive Producer & President, NBC Olympics Production & Executive Producer, Golf Channel.
“NBCUniversal has been a tremendous partner working with the USGA to establish a comprehensive viewing experience for our championships across multiple platforms,” said Navin Singh, Chief Commercial Officer of the USGA. “Through NBC, Golf Channel, and Peacock, we are excited about the coverage this year and their increased commitment to amateur and professional golf.”
NBC Sports’ live coverage of the 2021 USGA season kicks off Saturday, May 8 with the Walker Cup from Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Fla. across GOLF Channel and Peacock. The Walker Cup, which is being contested on U.S. soil for the first time in spring, is a biennial amateur team competition between the USA and a team composed of players from Great Britain and Ireland.
This year’s U.S. Walker Cup team is captained by Nathaniel Crosby and includes 2020 U.S. Amateur champion Tyler Strafaci.
In June 2020, NBCUniversal reacquired USGA championship media rights as part of a new partnership and broadcasted all four of the USGA’s championships last year. This year, the agreement with NBCU will allow the USGA to continue the uninterrupted coverage it provides to television fans thanks to its longstanding partnership with Rolex. In 2021, eight of the USGA’s televised championships, including the U.S. Women’s Open and the Walker Cup will air uninterrupted. The final hour of the U.S. Open will be presented in a similar manner.
