STAMFORD, Conn. – April 21, 2021 – The 2021 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season continues with NBC Sports’ comprehensive live coverage of the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg this Sunday at 12:30 p.m. ET on NBC. Pre-race coverage gets underway from the streets of St. Petersburg at Noon ET.

The series’ biggest stars will be in action, including reigning and six-time INDYCAR champion Scott Dixon, two-time INDYCAR champion and two-time defending Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg winner Josef Newgarden, 2019 Indianapolis 500 champion Simon Pagenaud, seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson, former Formula One racer Romain Grosjean, and last week’s Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama winner Alex Palou, among others. Rookie Scott McLaughlin joined Monday’s edition of NASCAR America Motormouths to discuss his debut at Barber and previews this weekend’s race at St. Petersburg. In last weekend’s season opener at Barber Motorsports Park, Palou earned his first NTT INDYCAR SERIES win, while 2014 INDYCAR champion Will Power finished in second and Dixon rounded out the podium. The SERIES rookies finished as follows: Grosjean (10th), McLaughlin (14th) and Johnson (19th).

NBC Sports’ coverage of the 2021 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season opener at Barber Motorsports Park this past Sunday averaged a Total Audience Delivery (TAD) of 921,000 viewers, up 3% from NBC’s 2020 INDYCAR race average (891,000; excluding the Indy 500) and was a 185% increase from the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama in 2019 on NBCSN (301,000). The race marked the most-watched non-Indy 500 race since Road America in 2020 on NBC (1.050 million, 7/12/20).

  • Event Headlines: In the three-race finale at Atlanta Motor Speedway, 450SX Class standings leader Cooper Webb (339 pts) rallied for his seventh victory of the season in Round 15 and defeated second-place finisher and Round 14 winner Ken Roczen (323 pts). With only a pair of races remaining this season, defending champion Eli Tomac (299 pts) rounds out the current top three in the closely contested 450SX standings. The Eastern Regional 250SX Class returns in Salt Lake City, with teammates Colt Nichols and Christian Craig atop the points standings, separated by only eight points.
  • Viewership: The opening race from Atlanta Motor Speedway on Saturday, April 10, on NBC ranked as the most-watched live Supercross race of the season with an average Total Audience Delivery (TAD) of 600,000 viewers. The race also totaled the highest reach for a Supercross telecast this season (1.76 million), surpassing this season’s other NBC broadcast (1.63 million, 1/31/21).
