HOCKEY CULTURE SEASON TWO

Hockey Hall of Fame member and five-time Stanley Cup champion Grant Fuhr joined NHL on NBC analyst Anson Carter for a conversation about his time as a member of his hometown Edmonton Oilers, his experiences as a black player in the NHL and thoughts on growing diversity and inclusion in the game, on the latest episode of NBC Sports’ Hockey Culture.

The conversation is available now on Hockey Culture’s dedicated YouTube Channel and below are highlights:

Fuhr on his time as a member of the Edmonton Oilers: “Nobody really realized how good we were going to be, we just went out and had fun every day. We liked being at the rink, we enjoyed each other’s company. We went out to have fun. It just happened we had a lot of success when we were having fun.”

Fuhr on the work being done on increasing diversity and inclusion in the sport of hockey: “I think there is still a lot more that we can do to get the game out in front of kids, minorities, the less fortunate, and I think the NHL plays a big part in that where we’ve got to expand the program to expose the game to kids because that’s how the game is going to grow.”

OUR LINE STARTS

NHL on NBC analysts Patrick Sharp and Dominic Moore joined Kathryn Tappen to discuss the current outlook in the West Division and early season Hart Trophy predications on the latest episode of NBC Sports’ NHL weekly podcast, Our Line Starts.
