Wednesday’s Season Premiere Touches on McReynolds’ Relationship with Dale Earnhardt, The 1998 Daytona 500 and Duo’s Split Later That Season

STAMFORD, Conn. – Feb. 9, 2021 – Season Four of The Dale Jr. Download on NBCSN premieres this Wednesday at 5 p.m. ET, featuring a conversation with Larry McReynolds, former crew chief for Dale Earnhardt when he won the 1998 Daytona 500.
The season premiere of The Dale Jr. Download on NBCSN will take a deep dive into McReynolds’ relationship with Earnhardt, a day-by-day account of the 1998 Daytona 500 Speedweek which culminated in Earnhardt’s memorable victory, and details surrounding the eventual split between McReynolds and Earnhardt later during that 1998 season. McReynolds is currently an analyst for NASCAR on FOX coverage.
Wednesday nights will typically serve as the home for weekly episodes of The Dale Jr. Download on NBCSN, with select episodes premiering on Thursday nights.

He was fantastic as you would expect, but we never got to talk about my dad and the 1998 Daytona 500. I’ve got so many questions for him about his relationship with my dad – the good, the bad, and perhaps the ugly if it did get ugly before the eventual crew chief swap. Honestly I know nothing about it. We’ve never talked about it. That’s why this is important to me to bring Larry Mac back.”
