A number of American contenders are competing, including the winningest slalom skier in World Cup history and three-time Olympic medalist Mikaela Shiffrin, four-time 2020-21 World Cup downhill podium finisher Breezy Johnson, two-time Olympic gold medalist Ted Ligety, and 2015 world downhill silver medalist Travis Ganong.

The 2021 FIS World Alpine Skiing Championships begin on Monday with the super-G portion of the women’s combined at 5 a.m. ET on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA, NBC Sports digital platforms and Peacock Premium. An encore will be presented at 7 a.m. ET on NBCSN, followed by the slalom portion of the women’s combined slalom live at 8:30 a.m. ET on NBCSN, with an encore slated for 10:30 p.m. ET on the network.

Shiffrin is expected to compete Monday and plans to race in four individual events in Cortina, marking a career high at a World Championships or Olympics. She is the defending world champion in slalom and Super-G and has won the slalom at four consecutive World Championships.

After making her NBC Sports on-air debut last month, Lindsey Vonn returns as an analyst for a pair of World Championships events on Feb. 13-14:

  • Sat., Feb. 13: Women’s downhill live at 5 a.m. ET on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA (encores later in the day at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBC and 4:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN).
  • Sun., Feb. 14: Men’s downhill live at 5 a.m. ET on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA (encores later in the day at Noon ET on NBC and 4:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN).

Vonn will work with NBC Sports’ Dan Hicks (play-by-play) and former U.S. ski team racer Steve Porino (analyst). NBC Sports’ Steve Schlanger will also handle play-by-play duties during the opening week of the World Championships with Porino as analyst.

The World Championships occur every other year and gather men and women across alpine skiing for two weeks of world-class competition. Cortina will also host alpine events for the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Peacock Premium is the streaming home of the World Championships. In November 2020, it was announced that the streaming service is the new home for streaming of winter Olympic sports, including all FIS events held in Austria.
