STAMFORD, Conn. – Jan. 21, 2021 – Leading up to the one-year anniversary of Kobe Bryant’s tragic death, Michele Tafoya hosts a new episode of the Sports Uncovered podcast series, “My Favorite Kobe Story,” which looks back at the Basketball Hall of Famer’s life and career.

“I think he was starting a movement,” Seattle Storm player Sue Bird said of Bryant’s support for the WNBA and women’s athletics in the episode. “And that movement was what he saw in his daughter.”

“I knew I always had to be at my absolute best against Kobe, mentally,” said Shane Battier, who played 14 years in the NBA. “It was like stealing yourself for like, a cage fight. And I knew if I didn’t have that every single time, I was going to be embarrassed. And there’s no other player I can say that about. Not one.”

Speakers on “Sports Uncovered: My Favorite Kobe Story” include Bird, Battier, former Lakers coach Mike Brown, eight-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt, Bryant’s high school coach Gregg Downer, WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu, Michael Jordan’s son Marcus Jordan, two-time Olympic medalist April Ross, NBA champion Brian Scalabrine, who was nicknamed the ‘White Mamba,’ and more.
