First-Ever Thanksgiving NFL Game in Pittsburgh (8 p.m. ET on NBC) Includes Special Holiday Greetings from Ravens and Steelers
NBC’s Hit Drama Has Prominently Featured Pittsburgh in Storylines Throughout Its Five Seasons
STAMFORD, Conn. – Nov. 24, 2020 – Milo Ventimiglia of NBC’s hit drama “This is Us” stars in the special show open for NBC’s Thanksgiving night NFL game, as the first-place Pittsburgh Steelers (10-0) host their AFC North rival Baltimore Ravens (6-4) at 8 p.m. ET this Thursday, Nov. 26.
Joining Ventimiglia in the show open to deliver special holiday greetings are Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh, Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin, and players from both teams.
Thursday night marks the first-ever Thanksgiving Day NFL game in Pittsburgh, which is the site of many storylines and numerous scenes over the five seasons of “This is Us,” including the pilot episode being set in Pittsburgh.
Ventimiglia’s character, Jack Pearson, first met his wife, Rebecca (played by Mandy Moore), in Pittsburgh on Dec. 23, 1972 – the same day as the Immaculate Reception. This led to a season three cameo by Hall of Famer Franco Harris, who caught the fateful scoring pass that led the Steelers to their first-ever playoff win.
Ventimiglia and Moore were special guests at the Steelers’ NFL Draft party at Heinz Field in 2017, and announced the team’s fourth-round selection.
