STAMFORD, Conn. – Nov. 5, 2020 – The FIG Friendship and Solidarity Competition will feature top gymnasts from the U.S., Japan, China and Russia on two mixed-gender teams — Team Friendship and Team Solidarity — in Tokyo, Japan. The competition will be held at Yoyogi National Stadium, which will host handball and badminton at next year’s Tokyo Olympics.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

  • Will mark the first major international competition held in Japan since the COVID-19 global outbreak.
  • The U.S. is planning to send three women and three men to compete, headlined by 2017 U.S. all-around champion Yul Moldauer and 2019 world team member Shane Wiskus.
  • Other athletes expected to compete include two-time Olympic all-around champion Kohei Uchimura (Japan), 2016 Olympic silver medalist Angelina Melnikova (Russia), 2019 world all-around champion Nikita Nagornyy (Russia) and 2018 world all-around champion Artur Dalaloyan (Russia).
