NBC Sports Presents More Than 20 Hours of Figure Skating Coverage Between October and End of Year

STAMFORD, Conn. – Oct. 21, 2020 – Two-time reigning world champion Nathan Chen headlines NBC Sports’ coverage of 2020 Guaranteed Rate Skate America this weekend, beginning Friday, Oct. 23 at 8 p.m. ET live on NBCSN from Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.

Three-time Grand Prix Final champion Chen, who has won Skate America in each of the last three years, along with 2018 Olympian Vincent Zhou, are expected to headline the men’s event, while 2018 U.S. champion Bradie Tennell, 2017 U.S. Champion Karen Chen and 2020 U.S. silver medalist Mariah Bell will highlight the ladies’ field. Two-time U.S. champion and 2014 Olympian Gracie Gold is also expected to compete.

In the ice dance event, two-time U.S. champions Madison Hubbell and Zach Donohue and two-time U.S. bronze medalists Kaitlin Hawayek and Jean-Luc Baker are expected to be the headliners. 2020 U.S. silver medalists Jessica Calalang and Brian Johnson, 2019 U.S. champions Ashley Cain-Gribble and Timothy LeDuc, and newly-formed duo Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier, who were both U.S. champions with their previous partners, are expected to compete in the pairs’ competition.

For the NBC and NBCSN broadcasts this weekend, Terry Gannon handles play-by-play, joined by 1998 Olympic gold medalist Tara Lipinski and three-time U.S. champion Johnny Weir. 2006 Olympic ice dance silver medalist Tanith White serves as the analyst on ice dance and pairs’ competitions.

Live coverage of Skate America, which kicks off the 2020 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, continues on NBC on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 3 p.m. ET and concludes in primetime later that night at 9 p.m. ET on NBCSN. The entire competition, including every skater in every discipline, can be streamed live on Peacock Premium.

NBC Sports and U.S. Figure Skating last week announced the broadcast schedule for the 2020 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, featuring more than 20 hours of coverage between October and the end of the year.

This year’s Skate America serves as a preview of January’s U.S. Championships, as the 2020 event primarily features Americans rather than international athletes due to travel restrictions and safety precautions.

Coverage on NBC and NBCSN is live streamed on NBCSports.com, and the NBC Sports app.
