Hockey Culture Interview with The Athletic’s Tarik El-Bashir Available Now
STAMFORD, Conn. – August 31, 2020 – NBC Sports presents exclusive coverage of a pair of potential Stanley Cup Second Round clinching games tonight on NBCSN, beginning with the (2) Tampa Bay Lightning, who hold a 3-1 series lead, looking to advance to the Eastern Conference Final against the (4) Boston Bruins at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN. Ondrej Palat netted a pair of goals and Andrei Vasilevskiy made 29 saves in a 3-1 Tampa Bay victory in Game 4. A 30-minute edition of NHL Live will begin coverage at 6:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN.
The second half of the Game 5 doubleheader features the (3) Dallas Stars looking to advance to the Western Conference Final against the (2) Colorado Avalanche, with a 3-1 series advantage. The Stars won Game 4 by a score of 5-4 last night behind goals from Jamie Benn and John Klingberg to push Colorado to the brink of elimination.
Kathryn Tappen will host tonight’s studio coverage alongside studio analysts Keith Jones and Anson Carter.
The latest episode of Hockey Culture features a conversation with The Athletic ‘s Washington Capitals beat reporter Tarik El-Bashir as part of the initiative, led by Anson Carter, dedicated to bringing equality and inclusion to the sport of hockey. Among the topics that El-Bashir and Carter discussed were El-Bashir’s experiences as a father to a youth hockey player, the Capitals’ recent efforts to promote local participation in hockey as well as how to increase resources for minority players within the sport.
