Hockey Culture Interview with Edmonton Oilers’ Darnell Nurse Available Now

STAMFORD, Conn. – August 26, 2020 – NBC Sports presents three Second Round matchups of the Stanley Cup Playoffs today exclusively on NBCSN, starting with Game 2 between the (1) Philadelphia Flyers and the (6) New York Islanders at 3 p.m. ET. The Flyers look to tie the series at a game apiece following the Islanders’ series opening 4-0 shutout victory. Islanders goaltender Semyon Varlamov made 29 saves in net to hold the Flyers scoreless in Game 1.

The primetime matchup features the (2) Tampa Bay Lightning taking on the (4) Boston Bruins in Game 3 at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN, with the series tied at one game apiece. Last night, the Lightning evened the series following Ondrej Palat’s game-winning goal in overtime to defeat the Bruins 4-3. Pre-game coverage begins with NHL Live at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

Coverage shifts west to the hub city of Edmonton at 10:30 p.m. ET, when the (3) Dallas Stars face the (2) Colorado Avalanche in Game 3 on NBCSN. Dallas scored five straight goals, including four in the second period, to defeat Colorado 5-2 in Game 2 and take a two-game advantage in the series.

Liam McHugh will host today and tonight’s studio coverage alongside studio analysts Patrick Sharp, Keith Jones and Anson Carter.

Yesterday, Hockey Culture debuted an interview with Edmonton Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse as part of the initiative, led by Anson Carter, dedicated to bringing equality and inclusion to the sport of hockey. Among the topics that Carter and Nurse discussed were Nurse’s childhood and upbringing around the sport of hockey in Canada, his experience playing for the Oilers and what he has learned from other professional athletes in his family, including his uncle and former NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb.

Hockey Culture also currently features interviews with Vegas Golden Knights forward Ryan Reaves, Minnesota Wild forward J.T. Brown and Arizona Coyotes President & CEO Xavier Gutierrez.
