ORLANDO, Fla., (Aug. 19, 2020) – The PGA TOUR’s FedExCup Playoffs begin Thursday with THE NORTHERN TRUST in Massachusetts, the first of three events that will culminate on Labor Day with the final round of the TOUR Championship. GOLF Channel will carry live tournament coverage across all four days from TPC Boston this week, followed by the final two playoff events airing exclusively across GOLF Channel and NBC. The R&A hosts the AIG Women’s Open this week from revered Royal Troon in Scotland, with live coverage of the first women’s major of 2020 airing across GOLF Channel (Thursday-Sunday) and NBC (Saturday-Sunday). The Korn Ferry TOUR is in Ohio for the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship, airing live on GOLF Channel Thursday through Sunday. The PGA TOUR Champions are in Missouri for the Charles Schwab Series at Bass Pro Shops Big Cedar Lodge, the first of two events taking place at Big Cedar Lodge over the next week. The tournament is being staged Wednesday-Friday, with next week’s complementary event being contested Monday-Wednesday. The European Tour hosts the Wales Open, which is being staged at Celtic Manor Resort.

“THE NORTHERN TRUST Charity Challenge” airing today at 2 p.m. ET: Four players in the field this week will convene this afternoon to take part in THE NORTHERN TRUST Charity Challenge. Abraham Ancer, Cameron Champ, Charley Hoffman and Marc Leishman will compete individually in a nine-hole competition utilizing a “Wolf” format, all to support charitable organizations committed to education and youth services in the Greater Boston area. The competition is being staged on TPC Boston’s back-nine as a PGA TOUR LIVE production, and is being simulcast live on GOLF Channel beginning at 2 p.m. ET today.
FedExCup Playoffs get underway: The PGA TOUR’s FedExCup Playoffs begin Thursday with THE NORTHERN TRUST in Massachusetts, the first of three events that will culminate on Labor Day – Monday, Sept. 7 – with the final round of the TOUR Championship in Atlanta. NBC Sports in total will provide more than 50 hours of linear live tournament coverage of the FedExCup Playoffs across GOLF Channel and NBC, which will be preceded each day by PGA TOUR LIVE coverage on NBC Sports Gold.
Reed defends: Patrick Reed finished one shot ahead of Abraham Ancer to earn his seventh PGA TOUR win.

First women’s major championship of 2020: This week marks the first of four women’s major championships to be staged in 2020. The AIG Women’s Open is organized by The R&A, and co-sanctioned by the LPGA Tour and Ladies European Tour. It also represents the first time the championship will be staged at Royal Troon Golf Club.
Davies to juggle roles, as both a competitor and broadcaster this week: World Golf Hall of Fame member Laura Davies is in the field this week, and she’ll be hitting the first tee shot on Thursday as part of the first tee time. In addition to competing in the event, Davies also will contribute to live coverage on GOLF Channel.
Shibuno defends: Hinako Shibuno outlasted Lizette Salas by a stroke at Woburn Golf Club to capture her first LPGA Tour win and first major championship.
