ORLANDO, Fla., (Aug. 11, 2020) – The USGA stages the 120th U.S. Amateur this week, with live, uninterrupted coverage (presented by Rolex) beginning Wednesday across GOLF Channel and Peacock, NBCUniversal’s new streaming service. Live coverage will air in primetime from renowned Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Oregon, Wednesday-Sunday. The PGA TOUR is in North Carolina for the Wyndham Championship, the final event before the FedExCup Playoffs kick off next week. The season-long Wyndham Rewards Top-10 also will culminate at week’s end, awarding a $10 million bonus pool to those finishing inside the top-10 in the FedExCup standings. The PGA TOUR Champions are in Ohio for the Tour’s first of two major championships being contested in 2020, with live coverage of the Bridgestone Senior Players airing Thursday-Sunday on GOLF Channel. The LPGA Tour stages the Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open, Thursday-Sunday live on GOLF Channel, as Danielle Kang looks to win a third consecutive tournament in as many weeks. The Korn Ferry TOUR is in Idaho for the Albertsons Boise Open, with coverage airing Thursday-Sunday on GOLF Channel. The European Tour hosts the Celtic Classic in Wales, airing Friday-Monday on GOLF Channel.

Live, uninterrupted coverage to air across GOLF Channel and NBCUniversal’s “Peacock”: Coverage of the 120th U.S. Amateur will Wednesday through Sunday in primetime from renowned Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Oregon. Coverage will be presented by Rolex – uninterrupted – including a bonus hour preceding GOLF Channel’s telecast (Wednesday-Friday) that will stream live, exclusively on Peacock, NBCUniversal’s new streaming service.
U.S. Amateur broadcast team: Dan Hicks will serve as play-by-play host and be joined in the broadcast booth by 1992 U.S. Amateur champion and GOLF Channel analyst Justin Leonard. Steve Burkowski will contribute as GOLF Channel’s amateur golf expert during the early portion of coverage each day, and will transition to interviewing those in the field after they complete their matches in the latter part of the telecast window. Notah Begay and Jim “Bones” Mackay will serve as on-course reporters, providing insight on matches from an inside the ropes perspective.
Field features top amateurs, past USGA champions: Beginning with live coverage on Wednesday, 64 players will have advanced from an initial field of 264 competitors, comprised entirely of exempt players due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. 31 countries are being represented, and the field includes 18 past USGA champions, led by 2019 U.S. Amateur winner Andy Ogletree. The field also features five of the top-10 players in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.

“Wyndham Rewards Challenge” airing Wednesday at 2 p.m. ET: Four PGA TOUR players in the field this week will convene on Wednesday afternoon to take part in the “Wyndham Rewards Challenge,” a nine-hole exhibition match featuring a $160,000 charitable donation going to The First Tee of the Triad in Central North Carolina. Charl Schwartzel and Branden Grace will team up against Pat Perez and Jason Kokrak. The format will have each player hit a tee shot before playing their partner’s drive as their second shot, then selecting the best of their two second shots to finish out each hole. The competition is being staged on Sedgefield Country Club’s back-nine as a PGA TOUR LIVE production, and is being simulcast live on GOLF Channel beginning at 2 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
Wyndham Rewards Top 10 culminates this week: The Wyndham Championship marks the final event before the start of the PGA TOUR’s FedExCup Playoffs next week. It also represents the culmination of the season-long Wyndham Rewards Top 10, which will conclude on Sunday and award a $10 million bonus pool to those players finishing inside the top-10 of the FedExCup standings at week’s end. The top-five in the standings will receive at least $1 million, with 10th place earning $500,000.
Poston defends: J.T. Poston defeated Webb Simpson by a stroke to earn his first PGA TOUR win.
