STAMFORD, Conn. – May 18, 2020 – T.J. Oshie’s memorable shootout performance against Russia at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi caps NBC Sports’ presentation of Team USA Olympic hockey matchups on NBC throughout the month of May this Saturday at 3 p.m. ET on NBC.
The enhanced presentation of the historic matchup will feature NBC Sports’ Liam McHugh interview with Oshie about his memories on the shootout victory. NBC’s broadcast will also feature a special Memorial Day essay penned by seven-time Emmy Award-winner Mike ‘Doc’ Emrick.
This week’s Hockey Happy Hour coverage on NBCSN includes four notable milestone and record performances Monday-Thursday beginning at 5 p.m. ET. On Tuesday at 5 p.m. ET, the premiere episode of NHL’s Who Wore It Best? features NBC Sports’ ‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst Pierre McGuire taking part in a debate over the best players to wear certain jersey numbers in NHL history.
The final installment of the NHL Player Gaming Challenge on NBCSN will air Thursday at 5 p.m. ET, featuring James van Riemsdyk representing the Philadelphia Flyers against Zach Hyman of the Toronto Maple Leafs. The month-long initiative pit NHL players from all 31 clubs facing off against each other in EA Sports NHL 20.
NHL Hat Trick Trivia Hosted by P.K. Subban continues tonight at 5 p.m. ET on NBCSN. Hosted by the New Jersey Devils defenseman, the show features fans answering a trio of hockey trivia questions from their homes, along with appearances from NHL players and celebrities, for the chance to win NHL prizes. Hockey Hall of Famer and Los Angeles Kings president Luc Robitaille will join the show, as well as Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey, NHL referee Wes McCauley and model Camille Kostek.

The Penguins and Lightning combined for four goals in the first period, with each team scoring twice. NHL’s Who Wore It Best? will feature hockey writers, broadcasters and insiders debating the best players to wear each jersey number in NHL history. The five-week series will air on NBCSN every Tuesday at 5 p.m. ET. The premiere episode features NBC Sports’ Pierre McGuire who takes part in debating the following jersey numbers: 92, 91, 88, 81 and 77.
CAPITALS- GOLDEN KNIGHTS (2018 STANLEY CUP FINAL, GAME 1) AT 5:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
Game 1 of the 2018 Stanley Cup Final marked the first-ever Stanley Cup appearance for the expansion Vegas Golden Knights. The high scoring affair featured a Cup-record four lead changes throughout the game. Behind two goals by Tomas Nosek, the Golden Knights won their first-ever Stanley Cup game, 6-4.
Emrick, Olczyk and McGuire called the Stanley Cup matchup from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.

NBC Sports’ Kathryn Tappen will co-host a 30-minute program that features Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl and Torey Krug of the Boston Bruins meeting fans virtually during the league’s hiatus in a memorable digital experience.
STARS-CANUCKS (2007 WESTERN CONFERENCE QUARTERFINALS, GAME 1) AT 5:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
The Stars and Canucks clashed in a 2007 postseason duel that went into quadruple overtime and ranks as the sixth-longest playoff game in NHL history. In the notable matchup, Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo faced a record 76 shots, making 72 saves, in Vancouver’s 5-4 Game 1 victory. Henrik Sedin scored the winning goal in the fourth overtime period.

The eighth-seeded Blue Jackets completed their sweep of the Presidents’ Trophy-winning Lightning in a shocking series upset. In Game 4, Pierre-Luc Dubois recorded a goal and two assists for Columbus in the team’s 7-3 victory, which marked Columbus’ first-ever playoff series win. The Lightning became the first Presidents’ Trophy winners to be swept in the first round.

Team USA and Russia faced off in the preliminary round at the Sochi Olympics in 2014. Tied at two, the Americans selected forward T.J. Oshie to participate in six shootout attempts, including the shootout-winner in the eighth round.
Emrick, Olczyk and McGuire called the preliminary round game in Sochi. The 3-2 Team USA shootout victory ranked as NBCSN’s most watched hockey game ever at the time.
