STAMFORD, Conn. – April 29, 2020 – NBC Sports’ Premier League coverage continues this weekend with 14 hours of programming, highlighted by seven matches, including the dramatic ending to the 2011-12 season, when Manchester City beat Queens Park Rangers in last-minute fashion to pip crosstown rivals Manchester United to the title.
Saturday’s classic matches on NBCSN feature 30-minute versions of some of the most memorable games in Premier League history. The games begin at 10 a.m. ET, as Tottenham came from behind three times to rescue a 4-4 draw against London rivals Chelsea in March 2008. Robbie Keane scored an 88th-minute equalizer against the Blues, whom Tottenham had just beaten in the 2008 League Cup Final. At 10:30 a.m. ET, Arsenal midfielder David Platt scored the winner in a 3-2 victory over Manchester United on Nov. 9, 1997.
Then, at 11 a.m. ET, Leicester City fought back against Arsenal in a thrilling 3-3 draw in August 1997. A stunning Dennis Bergkamp hat trick was the highlight of the game. At 11:30 a.m. ET, it’s a look back at one of the most dramatic games Goodison Park has ever seen, as Everton fought back from 0-2 down to win 3-2 against Wimbledon, who featured NBC Sports analyst Robbie Earle, on the final day of the 1993-94 season. The win meant that Everton avoided relegation from the top flight, something they last suffered in 1950-51.
Saturday’s slate culminates at 1 p.m. ET on NBC with a full match encore of one of the most dramatic days in the history of English football. Manchester City won their first-ever Premier League title with a 3-2 win over Queens Park Rangers on May 13, 2012. Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero scored in second-half stoppage time as City won the title on goal difference over crosstown rivals Manchester United.
Sunday’s coverage begins at 6 a.m. ET on NBCSN with Premier League Season in Review, highlighted by the top storylines and action from the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons. Beginning at 8 a.m. ET, NBCSN presents full encores of some of the most unforgettable Premier League matches, starting with a high-scoring London derby at White Hart Lane, where Juan Mata‘s brace paced Chelsea in a 4-2 win over Tottenham in October 2012.
At 10 a.m. ET, NBCSN will look back on Arsenal putting a dent in Liverpool’s top-four hopes for the 2014-15 season, after defeating the Reds, 4-1 at Emirates Stadium on April 4, 2015. Goals from Hector Bellerin, Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez – who all scored within eight first-half minutes – and Olivier Giroud led the Gunners to their seventh consecutive league victory.
Every Thursday across NBC Sports’ digital properties, including NBC Sports’ YouTube channel, NBCSports.com, and the NBC Sports app, members of the Premier League on NBC team will provide commentary as they look back on classic Premier League matches. Tomorrow, Lee Dixon and Arlo White share insights and stories while watching the 619th and final match of Dixon’s Arsenal career, a 4-3 win over Everton in May 2002, after which Dixon lifted his fourth league trophy.
PL 100 kicks off this weekend’s Premier League programming with four consecutive episodes, starting Saturday at 6 a.m. ET on NBCSN. The show takes a detailed look at the distinguished careers of past Premier League stars. Featured players include former PL goalkeeper David James, former Manchester United striker Andy Cole, former Tottenham, Sunderland and Aston Villa striker Darren Bent, and former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler. Following at 8 a.m. ET is Premier League Goals of the Season, featuring highlights from the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons.
