STAMFORD, Conn. – April 13, 2020 – Olympic Games Week begins today at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN, replaying historic moments from the 2016 Rio Olympics and 2012 London Olympics, with nearly 50 hours of coverage throughout the week.

NBC Olympics primetime host Mike Tirico will introduce nightly coverage over the next two weeks, concluding on Sunday, April 26. Programming will also stream on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app. Coverage of Olympic Sports on NBC Sports Group platforms is a presentation of Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA.

TODAY, MONDAY, APRIL 13 – RETURN TO RIO: 2016 RIO GAMES – BEST OF TEAM USA, WOMEN’S GYMNASTICS AND WOMEN’S ROAD CYCLING

The opening night of Olympic Games Week begins at 7 p.m. ET and features three medal performances (two gold and one silver) from the U.S. women’s gymnastics team at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

BEST OF TEAM USA AT 7 P.M. ET

A two-hour program, Best of Team USA highlights some of the most memorable American moments and performances in Rio. At the Games, the U.S. topped the medal chart with 121 medals, including 46 gold. The U.S. also surpassed 1,000 all-time gold medals at the summer Olympics.

Three Americans topped the individual athlete medal standings: Michael Phelps (six medals, including five gold), Katie Ledecky (five medals, including four gold) and Simone Biles (five medals, including four gold). The program features more than 15 U.S. athletes including Phelps, Biles, Ledecky, Simone Manuel, Ryan Lochte, Aly Raisman and Christian Taylor.

WOMEN’S GYMNASTICS: TEAM FINAL AT 9 P.M. ET

In the Rio team final, the U.S. ‘Final Five,’ as they became known, captured gold in dominating fashion, defending their 2012 gold medal performance in London. Led by Biles and Raisman, Team USA topped the field with an eight-point margin of victory (184.897), followed by Russia with the silver medal (176.688) and China, which took bronze (176.003).

The gold-medal finish is also the seventh consecutive team medal for the U.S. women, making them the first to win back-to-back women’s team titles since Romania earned gold in 2000 and 2004. Members of the U.S. women’s team included Biles, Raisman, 2012 Olympic all-around champion Gabby Douglas, Laurie Hernandez, and Madison Kocian, who has now won championships on every level (Olympic, World and NCAA).

WOMEN’S GYMNASTICS: INDIVIDUAL ALL-AROUND AT 11 P.M. ET

In the Rio all-around final, the U.S. women had a 1-2 finish with Biles winning gold and Raisman with silver. Seven-time Olympic medalist Aliya Mustafina of Russia earned the bronze.

This marked only the second time in history the U.S. claimed the top two spots on the podium in the women’s all-around competition, after NBC Sports analyst Nastia Liukin and her teammate Shawn Johnson did so in 2008. Biles also gave the U.S. a fourth consecutive gold medal in the women’s all-around, following Carly Patterson (2004), Liukin (2008) and Douglas (2012).

WOMEN’S ROAD CYCLING: ROAD RACE & TIME TRIAL AT 1 A.M. ET

Kristin Armstrong became the oldest female cyclist in history to win an Olympic medal when she won gold in the time trial event at the Rio Olympic Games, one day before her 43rd birthday. Armstrong is the only female U.S. athlete to win the same event (time trial) in three consecutive summer Olympic Games.

Led by first-time Olympian Mara Abbott, the U.S. women’s road cycling team placed three athletes in the top 12. Abbott’s fourth-place finish was the best result for an American woman since Connie Carpenter and Rebecca Twigg finished 1-2 at the 1984 Los Angeles Games. Abbott’s teammates Megan Guarnier and Evelyn Stevens finished 11th and 12th, respectively.
