Premier League “Group Chat” & “The 2 Robbies” Highlight This Week’s NBC Sports Podcasts

STAMFORD, Conn. – April 8, 2020 – NBC Sports’ Premier League coverage continues this weekend with more than 16 hours of programming, highlighted by a pair of classic Liverpool wins this Saturday, April 11, and full event replays of memorable matches, including Manchester City winning their second Premier League title in three years during the 2013-14 season on Sunday, April 12.

This week’s coverage begins tomorrow, Thursday, April 9, as members of the Premier League on NBC team will provide commentary as they look back on classic Premier League matches. Episodes are available every Thursday across NBC Sports’ digital properties, including NBC Sports’ YouTube channel, NBCSports.com, and the NBC Sports app. This week, Graeme Le Saux and Kyle Martino share insights and stories while watching Le Saux’s Blackburn Rovers beat Liverpool en route to winning the 1994-95 Premier League title.

Saturday’s classic matches feature 30-minute versions of some of the most memorable games in Premier League history beginning at 10 a.m. ET on NBCSN. The games begin with one of the most dramatic days in the history of English football as Manchester City won their first-ever Premier League title with a 3-2 win over Queens Park Rangers on May 13, 2012. Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero scored in second-half stoppage time as City won the title on goal difference over crosstown rivals Manchester United. Then relive a nine-goal thriller at 10:30 a.m. ET, as Adam Lallana’s last-minute strike earned Liverpool a 5-4 victory over Norwich on January 23, 2016.

A thrilling North London Derby at 11 a.m. ET on NBCSN features goals from Gareth Bale, Rafael van der Vaart and Younes Kaboul in Tottenham’s 3-2 epic come-from-behind win at Arsenal in November 2010. At 11:30 a.m. ET, Newcastle’s Philippe Albert’s famous chip over Peter Schmeichel highlights a 5-0 win over Manchester United at St. James’ Park on October 20, 1996. The Magpies were coming off a 1995-96 season in which they finished runners-up to the Red Devils.

Saturday’s encore matches culminate at Noon ET on NBCSN with one of the most iconic games in Premier League history. Third-place Liverpool damaged second-place Newcastle’s chances of winning the 1995-96 Premier League title after Stan Collymore’s last-minute winner led to a 4-3 victory in a back-and-forth thriller at Anfield on April 3, 1996.

Full event encores of some of the most unforgettable Premier League matches begin this Sunday at 8 a.m. ET on NBCSN with arguably the most pivotal match of the 2013-14 season. Chelsea blew the title race open when Demba Ba capitalized on Steven Gerrard‘s infamous slip, leading the Blues to a 2-0 victory at Liverpool. At 10 a.m. ET, NBCSN will look back on Manchester City winning their second Premier League title in three seasons after a comfortable 2-0 win over West Ham on May 11, 2014. Goals from Samir Nasri and Vincent Kompany secured the victory.

The weekend’s programming concludes Sunday at Noon ET with a thrilling London derby featuring two goals from Tottenham’s Harry Kane to inspire a 5-3 home win over first-place Chelsea on New Year’s Day in 2015. This marked Spurs’ first win over Chelsea since April 17, 2010.

Saturday’s coverage also includes Premier League Goals of the Season beginning at 8 a.m. ET on NBCSN with highlights from the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons, while Sunday kicks off at 6 a.m. ET on NBCSN with Premier League Season in Review, highlighted by the top storylines and action from the 2000-01 and 2001-02 seasons.

THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM

Originally debuted in April 2019, NBC will air an encore presentation of The Impossible Dreamthis Saturday at 1 p.m. ET. The two-hour documentary looks back at Manchester United’s unprecedented, treble-winning season of 1998-99, in which they won the three most prestigious club trophies in English football – the Premier League, the Champions League and the FA Cup. Dozens of interviews were conducted, including featured guests: legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and former players David Beckham, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (also current manager), Teddy Sheringham, Andrew Cole, and Dwight Yorke.

SOCCERBOX

On Soccerbox, Manchester United legend Gary Neville sits down with former Premier League stars to discuss their time in the game and some of the notable matches in which they played against one another. The show kicks off this weekend’s Premier League programming with a pair of episodes, beginning Saturday at 6 a.m. ET on NBCSN. Special guests include: Manchester United’s all-time leading scorer Wayne Rooney and Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.

PREMIER LEAGUE “GROUP CHAT” & THE 2 ROBBIES

NBC Sports presents a new slate of podcasts this week featuring two Premier League podcasts. On this week’s episode of the Premier League “Group Chat,” hosts Rebecca Lowe, Robbie Earle, Kyle Martino, Robbie Mustoe, Arlo White, Lee Dixon and Graeme Le Saux, share and discuss each of their favorite football memories. Episodes are available through “Premier League on NBC” and “The 2 Robbies” podcast channels. On a new episode of “The 2 Robbies,” hosts Earle and Mustoe will begin providing in-depth analysis of each Premier League club starting with Liverpool and Manchester City this week.

Premier League coverage on NBC and NBCSN will be streamed on NBCSports.com. Coverage will be streamed via “TV Everywhere,” giving consumers additional value for their subscription service, and making high quality content available to MVPD customers both in and out of the home and on multiple platforms.
